Buckler

Leslie Kay Brown Buckler, 57, of Woodford County, widow of John A. Buckler, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital of cardiac arrest.

Born Sept. 19, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Linnie Brown.

Survivors include two nieces, Felicia (Tony) Patasi, Cape Coral Fla., and Rita (Tim) Maple, Portland, Ore.; a nephew, Michael Sorrell, Naples, Fla.; two great-nephews, Erik Mathews and Steven Olekas; two great-nieces, Shelby and Taylor Sorrell; and a stepson, John Thomas Buckler, Berea. A sister, Brenda Sorrell, is deceased.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Betts & West Funeral Home, Nicholasville. Burial will follow in the Nonesuch Cemetery, Woodford County. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 1. Caskett bearers will be John Thomas Buckler, Tommy Turner, Phillip Reed, Tom Yann, Wayne Wright, and Ed Lay. Honorary bearers will be Bill Sorrell, Wayne Luttrell, David Covington, Gary Gunn, Judy Kay Yann, Martha Newby, and Sharon Scott.

Bugg

David Bugg, 43, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born June 29, 1965, in Warminster, Pa., he was the son of Eulah Mae "Lou" (Robinson) Bugg and the late William Charles Bugg. He was an avid horseman.

Survivors include a son, Matt Bugg and his mother, Linda Bugg, Moreland; a sister, Vicki (Ronnie) Robinson, Salvisa; and three brothers, William "Buddy" (Lisa) Bugg, Steven (Kim) Bugg, Harrodsburg, and Daniel Bugg, Versailles.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, April 30, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, by Jerry Perry. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Casket bearers will be Jim Lopez, Donnie Hampton, Tony Taylor, Ricky Noe, Mark Robinson, "Slim" and Steve Weaver. Honorary bearers will be David Maddox, Johnny Paul Cummins, Austin May, Johnny Johnson, "Woody" and Tony Franklin. Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. until the service.

English

Donovan Michael English, 41, of Rockwell, N.C., died Sunday, April 26, 2009.

Born April 22, 1968, in Versailles, he was the son of Linda B. English and the late Paul English. He enjoyed woodworking, horseback riding, motorcycles and watching western movies.

Survivors include his fiancée, Teresa Hurley; two daughters, Samantha English Baucom and Amanda English; a son, Donovan M. English Jr.; and two sisters, Kimberly English Cress and Rebekah English Sidden.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, April 30, at the Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, Concord, N.C., by the Rev. Rudy Shipton and Dr. Jerry Clonniger.

King

John L. "Pete" King, 65, of Versailles, husband of Mindy King, died Monday, April 20, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital.

A native of Stamping Ground, he was the son of the late Elmo Collins King and Bertie Young. He was a landscaper.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Judy King, Lexington, and Mattie Lamb, Tampa, Fla.; a niece, Rhonda Thornton; and a nephew, Kris King. A son, Montie King, is deceased.

Services were private. LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Meeks

Jeffery Allen Meeks, 39, of Charlotte, N.C., husband of Jovana Meeks, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at Presbyterian Main in Charlotte, N.C.

Born Sept. 5, 1969, in Versailles, he was the son of Verna Mae (Spencer) Meeks, Edgewater, Fla., and the late Marion Thomas Meeks. He was employed by the City of Charlotte as an auto technician.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cora Russell, Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Dr. Lisa Renee Meeks, Edgewater, Fla.; a brother, Dennis Wayne Meeks, Port Orange, Fla.; three nephews, Justin Midkiff, Thomas Meeks, and Matthew Meeks; a niece, Megan Meeks; and other family members.

Services were conducted Wednesday, April 29, at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord, N.C. An additional memorial service will be conducted from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 1, at the Thoroughbred Theatre in Midway.

Mosby

Lillie Clay Mosby, 96, of Versailles, widow of Horace Mosby, died Thursday, April 22, 2009, at the Bluegrass Care and Rehab Center in Lexington.

Born in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Woodson Clay. She was the longest-living member of First Baptist Church in Versailles.

Survivors include a daughter, Susie Mosby, Lexington; five grandchildren, Felicia Mosby, Anthony Mosby, Faith Cassell, Nisha Mosby White, and Shawna N. Johnson; and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Mary D. Williams; and three brothers, Ernest Clay, Wallace Clay and James Clay, are deceased.

Services were conducted Monday, April 27, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Floyd Greene and the Rev. Willis Polk. Interment followed at Steele Cemetery. Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Planck

Evalee Lakes, 80, of Lexington, widow of James Planck, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the Harrodsburg Healthcare Center.

Born in New Zion, she was the daughter of the later Walter and Effie Lakes. She was a cook for Begley Drug Store and the Meadowthorpe Cafe.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene (Emmett) Slone; a grandson, Kyle Slone, Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Frances Masse and Lucille Lakes, both of Lexington; two brothers, Robert (Barbara) Lakes, Versailles, and James (Alma) Lakes, Lexington.

Services were conducted Friday, April 24, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.

 

Terrell

Charles "Charlie" Terrell, 64, of Frankfort, husband of Barbara Goodrich Terrell, died Sunday, April 26, 2009.

Born Aug. 5, 1944, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Charles and Rozena Gee Terrell Sr. He worked for the Kroger Company for 20 years and retired from Centria. He attended Providence Baptist Church and was a member of the Juniper Hills Golf Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Charles "Chuck" (Stephanie) Terrell, Cordova, Tenn., and Brian (Tonya) Terrell and Barry Terrell, both of Frankfort; three grandchildren, Madison Terrell, Chelsea Noel, and Alex Hartsuff; a sister, Joyce Wood, Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Barbara Elliston, and a brother, Carl Terrell, are deceased.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Clark Funeral Home, Versailles Road, Frankfort, by Pastor David Rayburn. Casket bearers will be Gary Ison, Gary McDonald, Mike Wood, Carl Terrell Jr., Larry Bell, and Landon Stivers. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Williams

Lowell Douglas Williams Jr., 51, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Versailles, died Thursday, April 2, 2009.

Born July 25, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lowell Douglas Sr., and Robin Stepp Williams. He graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in electrical engineering/specialty in information technology. He worked at GE and RCA in Florida, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. He was a longtime member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include numerous cousins.

A memorial service was conducted Thursday, April 16, at Bethel Baptist Church, Dayton, Ohio, by the Rev. Charles S. Brown.
