Anderson Nathaniel Anderson, 73, of Lexington, husband of Delphia F. Anderson, died Thursday, April 2, 2009. Born July 18, 1935, in Lexington, he was the son of the late Katie Anderson and George Anderson Frazier. He attended Lexington public schools and served in the U.S. Army. He worked many years at the Lexington Clinic and Cardinal Hill Hospital. He was a member of the Consolidated Baptist Church, serving as a member of the men’s choir and Sunday school. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Fredrick, Nathan, James (Artie) Atkins Jr., Danville, Lee (DeAnna) Atkins Sr., Versailles, and Charles Atkins, Lexington; a sister, Joan (Charles) Bolton, Lexington; his stepmother, Rose Frazier; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Two sisters, Elizabeth "Libby" Campbell and Georgia Edlin; and a brother, Clark G. Anderson, are deceased. Services were conducted Tuesday, April 7, at the Consolidated Baptist Church. O.L. Hughes & Sons Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Bates William Kenneth "Big B" Bates, 43, of Lexington, husband of Vicki Mosley Bates, died Sunday, March 29, 2009. The son of Betty Monroe Thompson and James L. Bates Jr., he was a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church and worked for Bob Evans Restaurant for 10 years. Other survivors include his stepfather, Charles R. Thompson; his paternal grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Bates; a daughter, Kendra; a son, William Kenneth Jr.; a stepdaughter, Danielle Mosley; two stepsons, Michael and Joshua Mosley; a granddaughter, Tyler Thompson; a grandson, Domenique Callaway; a sister, Linda; three brothers, James Gregory, Darrell Steven, and Lamont Bates; and other relatives. Services were conducted Thursday, April 2, at the Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, Lexington. O. L. Hughes & Sons Mortuary, Lexington, was in charge of arrangements. Conrad Tina Ann Turner Conrad, 32, of Versailles, wife of Danny Conrad, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Faith Ann Conrad; her mother, Nannie Deatherage, and stepfather, James Deatherage; a sister, Jenny (Stafano) Slone; and a brother, Billy (Windy) Turner, all of Midway; two aunts, Helen (Eddie) Agee, Midway, and Minnie (Virgil) Isbell, Frenchburg; an uncle, J. R. (Heather) Brown, Midway; three nieces; and several cousins. Services were conducted Wednesday, April 8, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger Wells. Burial was in the Midway Cemetery. Disponette Buford Lyons Disponette Sr. , 78, of Nicholasville, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at his residence. Born Jan. 22, 1931, in Lawrenceburg, he was the son of the late Horace Gilman and Janie Elizabeth Holt Disponette. He was the co-owner of Disponette Service Company. A member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge #215, he was baptized at South Elkhorn Christian Church and attended Clays Mill Baptist. Survivors include two children, Nancy Lake, Versailles, and J.R. (Jayne) Disponette, Lexington; five grandchildren, Ashley Lake, Lyons, Lance and Chris Disponette, and Misty Taylor; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wally, Ronnie, and Danny Disponette; and four sisters, Mary Jo Ogden, Patty Dempsey, Ella Tuttle, and Betsy Childers. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today, Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Kerr Brothers, Harrodsburg Road, by the Rev. Ronnie Hupp. Burial will follow in the Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Lancaster Saint Elmo Lancaster, 77, of Versailles, husband of Ethel Barrick Lancaster, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at his home. Born in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Robert Bruce Lancaster and Marie Flora. He was a retired farmer and transportation employee for the Woodford County Schools. He had owned and managed the Bluegrass Grocery on Main Street in Versailles prior to its closing, was a school bus mechanic from 1958 to 1968, and bus driver from 1958 to 1984. He helped form and for many years was a member of the Mortonsville Fire Department. In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah Fay (Russell) Fannin, Versailles; five sons, Daniel Joseph (Donna) Lancaster, Frankfort, and Phillip Ray (Donna) Lancaster, Alan Boyd Lancaster, Mark Elmo Lancaster, Loren Lee Lancaster, all of Versailles; two sisters, Alma Marie Carter and Annie Pearl Slatten, both of Versailles; three stepbrothers, Robbie, John Thomas, and Tony Lancaster; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Howard Bruce Lancaster and Louis Gene Lancaster; a sister, Nettie Jean Toll; and a brother, Robert Bruce Lancaster Jr., are deceased. Services were conducted Monday, April 6, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Frankie Layne, the Rev. Tony Cooper, and Bro. Estill Everman. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The son of John L. and Charlsey Lucas Link, he was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, was the owner of R.F. Link & Associates, and was past president of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers (SREA). He practiced as a farm/commercial real estate appraiser throughout Kentucky and the southeast. He was a past president of Sigma Phi Epsilon and SUKY. He was a member of ROTC, a U.S. Army captain during the Korean War, a Kentucky Colonel, and was a voracious reader of world history and culture, including that of the backroads and farms in Kentucky. Survivors include three children, Linda (Dale) Bonner, Dallas, Texas, David (Sara) Link, Plano, Texas, and Susan (Peter) Hammond, Belleair Bluffs, Fla.; three siblings, John Wm. Link, Lexington, and Nancy (Jim) Palmore and Linda (L.K.) Nave, Versailles; two grandchildren, Breogan Link and Felipe Link, Plano, Texas; and six nieces and nephews, Vicki Freeman, Tricia Kittinger, Link Freeman, Judson Link, Wm. Nave, and Leonard Nave Jr. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, April 9, at the Lexington Cemetery. Moore, died Sunday April 5, 2009, at the Central Baptist Hospital. Born Dec. 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William and Bessie Reed Wiggs of Keene. She was a retired employee of Square D and a member of the Gethsamane Lutheran Church. Survivors include a daughter, Nina Latham (Ted), Versailles; two sisters, Eunice Kennoy, Lexington, and Christine Wiley, Nicholasville; a brother, George Wiggs (Sue Ann), Wilmore; two grandchildren, Jeremy Moore and Nicole Lynn Latham, Versailles; a step-grandson, Scott Hugh Latham, Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews. A son, Donald Gene Moore, six brothers and a sister, are deceased. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, April 9, at Gethsamane Lutheran Church, Lexington, by Pastor Joe Trester. Guest book at www.hagerandcundifffunerals.com. Myshrall Lucy Ellen Kaenzig Myshrall, of South Windsor, Conn., widow of William R. Myshrall Jr., died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at her home. A native of Woodford County, she had lived in South Windsor since 1958. She retired in 1990 as alumni office coordinator at Trinity College, Hartford, Con. She was a former president of the Valley Planters Garden Club and was also president of the Women’s Club of Trinity College, where she initiated the funding of awards for Trinity IDP graduates. She was a director and secretary of Island View Corporation, East Hampton, Conn., from 1980 to 2002, and was also director and treasurer from 1989 to 2002. She sang in a high school Glee Club and also was a member of a trio. She was active in various church choirs for many years and served on a church music committee. She was also a member of the South Windsor Community Chorus for 10 years. She was a graduate of the Fugazzi Business College in Lexington and attended Trinity College, working in legal and academic areas during her working career. Survivors include a daughter, Beth Bashir (Ashraf), East Haddam, Conn.; a son, Dean Myshrall (Carol), Enfield. Conn.; two grandsons, Adam Sellers and Eric Myshrall; a granddaughter, Kristen Myshrall; a step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Bashir; a brother, Claude Kaenzig, Versailles; and several nieces and nephews. Services were conducted Tuesday, April 7, at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, South Windsor, Conn. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Conn. Wikander, 91, of Eugene, Ore., formerly of Versailles, widower of Martha Adams Wikander, died Monday, March 30, 2009, of age-related causes. Born Nov. 1, 1917, in Pittsburgh, Pa. he was the son of the late Ragnar and Mary Gerdes Wikander. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in 1940 and held a master’s degree in geology. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and worked as a geologist for the federal government. Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Wikander, Eugene, Ore., and Frederick Wikander Jr., California; and a grandchild. Burial will be in Pittsburgh, Pa. Andreason’s Cremation & Burial Service, Springfield, Ore., is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Planned Parenthood.
