Bondurant

Hattie W. Bondurant, 95, of Dayton, Ohio, widow of William Bondurant died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Maria Joseph Living Care Center.

A native of Versailles, she was a Dayton resident for 64 years. She was a member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church for 63 years, working on the Evangelistic Team, Senior Mission and Sunday school until her health failed.

Survivors include two brothers, George R. (Mildred) Winkfield, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Wilgus "Billy" Winkfield, Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Doris Sears, Versailles, a cousin, Jean P. Johnson, Dayton, Ohio; a niece, Theresa Sears, Versailles; a numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Services were conducted Thursday, Dec. 4, at Mt. Enon Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Harold Cottom III. Interment was on West Memory Gardens. HOUSE OF WHEAT Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of arrangements.

 

Coovert

Douglas Steven Coovert, infant son of Steven Coovert and Felicia Drennan, brother of Brianna Coovert, was stillborn Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

In addition to his parents and sister, he is survived by his grandparents, Mike and Diane Martin, Versailles, Dawn and Robert Wilson, Versailles, and Randy Turner, North Carolina; and his great-grandparents, David and Paula Black, Versailles, and Mary Coovert, Versailles. His great-grandparents, Bobbi Ann and Durrell Coovert, are deceased.

Graveside services were conducted Monday, Dec. 8, at the Versailles Cemetery. Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, was in charge of arrangements.

Frasure

Charlotte Geschwind Frasure, 90, of Taylor Manor Nursing Home, Versailles, formerly of Ripley, Ohio, widow of Dr. Troy C. Frasure, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008.

Born Nov. 21, 1919, in Ripley, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Henrietta Geschwind. She graduated from Ripley High School in 1937 and worked at German Bros. Company for 10 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherri Evans, Ripley, Ohio, and Lynne (Tom) Lundergan, Versailles; a sister, Lois Ross, Aberdeen, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Amy (Tim) Frebis, Nicholasville, Troy (Ginger) Adams, Carlisle, Clay Adams, Aberdeen, Ohio, Heidi Evans, Ripley, Ohio, Tiffany (Dr. Nicholas) Salsman, Villa Hills, Elliott Lundergan, Lexington, and Cody Lundergan and Max Lundergan, Versailles; seven great-granddaughters, Sarah, Caitlyn, Mahalia, Charlotte, and Abriana Adams, Ashley Frebis, and Olivia Salsman; and a stepdaughter, Jean Ellinwood, Clayton, Calif. A stepdaughter, Betty Erickson, and a stepson, Stephen Frasure, are deceased.

A funeral Mass will conducted at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 11, at St. Michaelís Catholic Church, Ripley, Ohio. Burial will be in St. Patrickís Cemetery, Maysville. Casket bearers will be Troy Adams, Clay Adams, Tim Frebis, Elliott Lundergan, Cody Lundergan, and Nick Salsman. Cahall Funeral Home, Ripley, Ohio, is in charge of arrangements.

Lancaster

Phyllis Ratliff Lancaster, 67, widow of Dale Lancaster, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at her home.

Born in Wolfe County, she was the daughter of the late Buford and Mildred Wheatley Ratliff. She had been a housekeeper.

Survivors include two daughters, Teresa (Jerry) Florence and Paula Delgado, Versailles; a son, Larry (Barbara) Noble, Versailles; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A sister and four brothers are deceased.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 11, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Jake Sargent. Interment will be at Rose Crest Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jeffrey Canafax, Steven Delgado, Jack Ratliff, Danny Ratliff, Joe Ratliff, and Jesse Ratliff.

Hutchens

Zachary Taylor Hutchens, 22, of Versailles, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

The son of Tim and Melissa Corman Hutchens, he was a 2004 graduate of Woodford County High School and had served in the U. S. Army as a diesel mechanic in Ft. Hood, Texas. He was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, backyard bonfire get-togethers with friends, skeet shooting, and was a decorated marksman.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Marlon Hutchens; his grandparents, Willard and Jo Ann Corman, Versailles, Arthur Hutchens, Lexington, and Sharon Clifford Hilbert, Georgia; two aunts, Robin Dixon and Delia (Jimmy) Spurgeon; and an uncle, Jeff (Paula) Hutchens.

Services were conducted Monday, Dec. 8, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Pastor Mark Gaus and the Rev. Rebecca Peterson. Cremation followed services.

Logan

Herbert Lee "Herb" Major Logan, 55, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008.

He was the son of Herbert L. Logan Sr., Versailles, and Bettie White Adams, Wilmore. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Marsha (Jose) Figueroa; a grandson, Allesandro Figueroa, Germany; three brothers; four sisters; and several uncles, aunts, and other relatives.

Services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Wilmore Free Methodist Church. O. L. Hughes & Sons Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

 

Sullivan

Trent Conrad Sullivan, 20, of Versailles, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of Melissa and Brian Gandee of Versailles. He was a 2006 graduate of Herbert Hoover High School in Clendenin, W.Va., and excelled in wrestling, baseball, and basketball. He had lived in Versailles for over two years, was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God, and was a former employee of Toyota in Georgetown.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Makalea Ullman, Sissonville, W.Va.; a brother, Brian Gandee Jr., Versailles; and a sister, Amanda Rucker, Clendenin, W.Va.

Services were conducted Friday, Dec. 5, at the Pentecostal Church of God by the Rev. Jim Smith.

Sutherland

Elizabeth Ann "Lib" Sutherland, 83, of Versailles, wife of Charlie "Tige" Sutherland, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at her residence.

Born June 16, 1925, in Frankfort, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Ann Hackney Sutherland. She was a retired Kentucky state employee, having worked at the Department of Fish and Wildlife and was a member of the Glenís Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters-in-law, Lillian Sutherland and Margret Rice, both of Versailles; and three cousins, Ann Smith Del Bello, Florida, Doris Nave, Midway, and Goebel Nash, Texas.

Services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 6, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by Pastor Mike James. Burial was in the Versailles Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lynn Baker, David Lloyd, Lonnie Brown, James E. Sutherland, Robert Brock, and Robert Krall.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
