Bain

Donald L. Bain, 82, of Woodford County, husband of Bessie Eaves Bain, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the Hospice Care Center after a long illness.

Born in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Dewey and Katherine Young Bain, was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Steve Bain; a daughter, Sally Semones (Phillip); two sisters, Marjorie Eaves and Joyce Sims; three grandchildren, Chris Semones, Ashley Semones, and Brittany Torson; and three great-grandchildren, Sam Torson, Ayden Cummins, and Madelyn Semones, all of Woodford County. A son, Dewey "Tommy" Bain, is deceased.

According to Mr. Bainís wishes, no visitation or services are planned.

Memorials contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Borders

Margaret "Maggie" Borders, 41, of Lexington, formerly of Versailles, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Born Dec. 15, 1972, in Frankfort, she was the daughter of Harry L. and Evelyn G. Borders. She received her bachelor of science degree in nursing and her masterís degree in health administration from the University of Kentucky.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Evelyn "Lyn" Borders and Christina Borders; her fiancť, Anthony "Tony" Carter; two nieces, Morgan Lyn Rakes and Daniela Lyn Rakes; and her beloved dogs, Sammy, Trooper, Abbey, and Storm.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at St. Leoís Catholic Church in Versailles by Fr. Danny Schwendeman. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 19, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a humane society or to a charity of oneís choice.

Cummins

Dora Crawford Cummins, 75, widow of Elmore C. Cummins, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

Born at Bethlehem in Henry County, she was the daughter of the late Pete and Hallie Belle Brumback Crawford.

Survivors include four daughters, Pam C (Ricky) Reynolds, Versailles, Dora (Alan) Wilson and Dorothy (Gene Cummins) Tackett, both of Lawrenceburg, and Jeanette C (Robert) Phelps, Versailles; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son, Jason Cummins, two daughters, Brenda C. Wilson and Patricia Cummins, a sister, Hallie Sach, and a brother, William F. Crawford, are deceased.

Services were conducted Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Frank Layne. Burial was in the Alton Cemetery in Anderson County.

Floyd

John C. Floyd, 73, a retired IBM employee, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at The Willows at Hamburg.

Born in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late John Aaron and Jewell Estes Floyd and was a member of the South Elkhorn Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Jeff (Cindy) Floyd, Versailles; two sisters, Sue (Bruce) Reynolds, Louisville, and Linda (Vernon) Clark, Liberty; a grandson, Peyton Floyd; and a granddaughter, Lauren Floyd. A grandson, William Floyd, is deceased.

Private services are planned.

The family requests no flowers. Contributions are suggested to The Gideons International.

Ward

Philip Wayne Ward, 68, a Woodford County farmer and former Trane employee, husband of Elizabeth G. Ward, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at his home.

Born in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Philip and Glenna Ballard Ward and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Tony Ward and Timothy Ward, both of Nicholasville; five stepchildren, Janet Carter, Lexington, Tracey Sloan, Oklahoma City, Okla., Craig Carter, Whitesburg, Jesse Carter II, Irvine, and Kay Linscott, Nicholasville; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Monday, Dec. 16, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Allen Harrod. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jesse Carter III, Brian Crawford, Alex McCullough, Andrew Gibbs, Jeremy Linscott, Craig Carter, and Frank Nichols.
