Alvarez Pamela Nancy Fernandez Alvarez, 46, of Florida, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at her home. Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of Ginny Bowling, Richmond, and the late Manuel D. Fernandez. She grew up in Versailles and attended Woodford County Schools. She was a former certified dental assistant and has resided in Florida for the past 25 years. In addition to her mother, she is survived by three children, Anthony, Aimee, and Alec Alvarez, all of Florida; a sister, Santa Fernandez, Lawrenceburg; and four brothers, David Fernandez, Richmond, Tony Fernandez, Auburn, Ala., and Michael Fernandez and Alex Fernandez, both of West Palm Beach, Fla. A brother, F. Dudley Fernandez, is deceased. A memorial service was conducted Monday, Nov. 30, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Indialantic, Fla. Bush Christopher Lynn Bush, 47, of Versailles, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville. Born June 20, 1962, in Findlay, Ohio, he was the son of Martha S. Bush, Versailles, and the late Frank Bush. He came to Kentucky in 1975 and attended Midway Grade School, Woodford County Middle School, where he played football, and also attended Woodford County High School. He was a former employee at Rand McNally. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Jason A. Bush, Shelbyville; a brother, Thomas R. Bush, Lawrenceburg; and three grandchildren, Destiny, Charles and Katrina. A brother, Damon, and his maternal grandparents, Elmore and Beulah Hubbard, are deceased. Born in Harlan County, he was the son of Charles Creech of Richmond, Ind., and the late Marcella Nolan Creech. He was a landscaper for Darley Farm. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by three stepchildren, Richard Gallimore, Frankfort, and Jacob Gallimore and Amanda Rhoades, Versailles; a granddaughter, Maddison Rhoades, Versailles; five sisters, Gale Block and Diana (Jim) George, Richmond, Ind., Linda (Leroy) Lacey, Fountain City, Ind., Nora (Tom) Bales, Williamsburg, Ind., and Rhoda (Mike) Rapp, Indianapolis, Ind.; and two brothers, Jim Creech and Bill (Paula) Creech, both of Richmond, Ind. Darmand Christine Robertson Darmand, 67, of Lexington, wife of Joseph Darmand, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at her residence. Born Feb. 14, 1942, in Ayrshire, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth McLachlan. She was a retired payroll specialist and a member of the Lexington Investment Club. She also was treasurer of the Clan MacLachlan Association of North America and a volunteer at Central Baptist Hospital. In addition to her husband of 46 years, she is survived by two sons, Andrew Darmand and Christopher (Amy) Darmand, Lexington; a grandchild, Anna Claire Darmand, Lexington; two sisters, Elizabeth Allen and Isabella Burke; and two brothers, John and Glen (Barbara) McLachlan, all of Massachusetts. Services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Versailles Pentecostal Church by the Rev. Keith Morrison. Burial was in the Georgetown Cemetery. Etherington Dan Etherington, 51, of Versailles, loving husband of Debbie Etherington, went home to be with his Heavenly Father Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, after a long, courageous battle. He was the father of daughters Dana Etherington of Somerset and Amy Etherington of Versailles. He was the son of Mary Dan Etherington and the late Joe Etherington. He is also survived by his sister Fran Etherington of Versailles, sister Patti Ball and brother-in-law George Ball, both of Cincinnati. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Etherington. After graduating from Woodford County High, he went on to play basketball and graduate from Bluefield College in Bluefield, VA. He was an employee of Comair Airlines and was a member of Versailles Baptist Church. He loved his family, his church family and his Lord, and he was assured of his future in Heaven. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at the Versailles Baptist Church by the Rev. John Brandon. Burial will follow at Rose Crest Cemetery. (Paid obituary) Hughes Stella Hughes, 86, of Nicholasville, widow of Orval Hughes, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009. The daughter of the late John and Katie Long Reynolds, she was a member of the Clover Bottom Baptist Church. Survivors include three sisters, Ruth (Rick) Macomb, Ashland, Anna (Charles) Holderman, Springfield, and Lucille Brooks, Wilmore; a brother, Donald (Dixie) Reynolds, Wilmore; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Reynolds, Woodford County; and several nieces and nephews. Michael Nora Coleman Michael, 96, of Georgetown, widow of Emery A. Michael, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at her home. Born May 18, 1913, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Cecil Harlow Coleman. She retired from the National Distillers in Frankfort and was a member of Penn Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Wava L. Fariss, Georgetown, and Vivian (Dean) House, Stamping Ground; two grandchildren, Gregory A. Kelly and Teresa (Ray) Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Ryan M. and Kimberly A. Kelly and Tony and Ian Nelson; two brothers, Freeman (Evelyn) Coleman, Shelbyville, and Lloyd (Carolyn) Coleman, Madison, Ala.; three sisters; Etta (William) Spaulding, Mt. Washington, Ann (Harold) Greer, Taylorsville, and Verna Simpson, Midway; and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Eva Mae Michael, and seven sisters and brothers, Alma Graves, Emma Haley, Maxine Smith, James M., Isaac W., Selbert, and Vernon Coleman, are deceased. Mitchell Roger Clark Mitchell, 59, of Versailles, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009. Born in Sand Gap, he was the son of the late James and Gladys Gaines Mitchell. He was employed by McKinney Painting. Survivors include a daughter, Tonya Jones, Versailles; a son, Shane Mitchell, Lexington; and a sister, Betty Lane. Services were conducted Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by Pastor Terry Flora. Burial was in the Versailles cemetery. Rhorer Emalene Reynolds Rohrer, 98, of Nicholasville, widow of Bert K. Rohrer Jr., died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at her retirement community in Richmond, Va., after a brief illness. The daughter of the late Lindsay J. and Smylie Burton Reynolds, she was a graduate of Nicholasville High school. She worked for many years as a telephone operator in Nicholasville, and served as chief operator until the telephone system was converted to dial in 1958. In recent years she spent much of her time doing genealogical research. Survivors include a son, Bert L. Rohrer, Warsaw, Va.; three grandchildren, Stephanie R. Mahevich, Fairfax County, Va., Charlotte C. Rohrer, Versailles, and Mark L. Rohrer, New York City. Two brothers, Rice and Willy Reynolds, are deceased. Wheeler Emma Elizabeth Blair Wheeler, 88, of Versailles, widow of W. Bernal Wheeler, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Born in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Turner and Sudie Jane Evans Blair. She was a former Texas Instruments employee and later a caregiver for the elderly. Survivors include two daughters, Bernice (Stewart) Robinson, Lawrenceburg, and Carol Ann (Michael) Carpenter, Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Mabel Louise Morrison, Lexington, and Emily Lemay, Lawrenceburg; a brother, Franklin Blair; a son-in-law, Billy McIntyre, Versailles; two grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Alice Sue McIntyre; two grandsons, B. McIntyre and Bryan McIntyre; and two sisters, Carolyn Jane Bede and Henrietta Wheat, are deceased. Wray Shelby Christine Wray, 7 months, daughter of Rachelle Meghann Lefever and Jeremiah Joshua Wray of Versailles, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Bluegrass Community Hospital. Born March 30, 2009 at St. Joseph East Hospital, Lexington, she was diagnosed with Down syndrome. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandmother, Jereann Lefever Garwood, California; and her great-grandmother, Ann R. Lefever, Versailles. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at St. John’s Episcopal Church by Fr. Alan Sutherland. Visitation will be after 12:30 p.m. at the church.
