Chapman

William "Billy" Howard Chapman, 85, widower of Marcella Hill Chapman, to whom he was married for 63 years, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Bluegrass Community Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Woodford County, he was the son of Virgil Lee and Louisa Mae Williams Chapman. He was a member of Clover Bottom Baptist Church, an avid cattle farmer, tobacco producer and enjoyed hunting. A sales representative for GP Rose Company of Nashville, Tenn., he retired after traveling seven states for 28 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Hope Elliot, Jessamine County; three sons, Spurgeon (Mary) Chapman, Holly (Glenda Kay) Chapman, and Howard Townsend, all of Versailles; a sister, Mary Lyle Hartley; five grandchildren, J.W. Elliot, Kendal Elliot, Elizabeth Paige Chapman, Clara Madison Chapman, and Christopher L. Hayes; and a great-grandchild, Lane Bennett Stephenson. A sister Doris Prather, is deceased.

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Rose Crest Cemetery by the Rev. Dwayne Brewer. Casket bearers were Jack Wheeler, Mark Hill, Chris Hayes, Danny Jackson Jr., Steve Agee, and William Thomas Prather. Honorary bearers were Ricky Poor, Velber Luttrell, Carl Crowe, Billy Sutherland, Jimmy Sutherland, and Donald Taylor.

Connor

Wilma Doris McClure "Autumn" Connor, 81, widow of Tom Connor, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, of cancer.

Born Jan. 4, 1927, in Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Minnie Mae Jackson McClure. She attended Midway College, where she was crowned May Queen. She was a homemaker, interior decorator, executive secretary, dental assistant, and a beauty consultant for Vivian Woodard Cosmetics for over 40 years.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Thomas and George Wallace Connor; a sister, Norma Dodson; three nieces, Dr. Sharon (Scott) Dodson, Leslie Craycraft, and Janet (Tom) Potts; a grandson, Tommy (Angie) Connor; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 17, at St. Paul Catholic Church, by Fr. Charles McDonald, Fr. Chuck Niehaus, and Fr. Dan Noll. Entombment will be in the Lexington Mausoleum. Casket bearers will be Sister Clara Ferhringer, Lisa Tolliver, Dana Martin, Barbara Connell, Erica Formisano, and Deloris Harper. Honorary bearers will be Liz Short and Emily Gorham.

Memorials may be made to St. Paulís Catholic Church, 501 W. Short Street, Lexington; St. Raphaelís Episcopal Church, 1891 Parkers Mill Road, Lexington; or the American Cancer Society.

 

Crowe

Mary D. Crowe, 79, of Greenfield, Ind., widow of John C. Crowe, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Regency Place Nursing Home, Greenfield.

Born Dec. 19, 1928, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Cutsaw) Wilkins. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Crowe Anderson, Greenfield; two sisters, Elizabeth Jelinck, Nicholasville, and Ronnie Parker, Versailles; a brother, Alan Wilkins, Versailles; five grandchildren, Tracy Dawn Anderson, Jodi R. Anderson, Lisa M. Koedyker, Jason Crowe, and Nicholas Crowe; five great-grandchildren, Johnathan Clouse, Jacob Koedyker, Elyssa Colwell, Lucas Koedyker, and Evan Colwell; and several nieces and nephews. A son, Jack C. Crowe; and a great-granddaughter, Jackie Dawn Anderson, are deceased.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 17, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield, Ind.

Ripley

Herna L. Ripley, 78, of Lexington, mother of Janice Fletcher and Bernice Edwards, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Morgan Funeral Home, Versailles.

 

Rush

Marjorie Randolph Rush, 85, of Versailles, widow of F. Kenneth Rush, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 at Taylor Manor Nursing Home.

Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Cecile Adcock Randolph. A 1943 graduate of the University of Kentucky, she and her husband had owned and operated Cropperís Laundry in Lexington. A longtime member and former deacon of the Versailles Presbyterian Church, she had served as past president and former chair of the Woodford County Womanís Club, was a former member of the Woodford Hospital Board of Directors, had served on the Ladiesí Auxiliary, the Girl Scout Board, the Federal Housing Board, and was a member and past president of the PEO "S" Chapter.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen R. Thuente (David), Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Kenneth Randolph "Randy" Rush (Mary Mason), Seattle, Wash., and Ray Milton Rush (Mary Jane), Winchester; a sister, Eleanor Fowler, Frankfort; a brother, Ray Randolph (Ruth), Nashville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Ovana Rush, Versailles; and six grandchildren, Johanna Thuente, Christian Thuente, Andrew Mason, Michael Rush, Elizabeth Rush, and Virginia Rush.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Versailles Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Melissa Sevier. Her grandchildren will serve as honorary casket bearers. Interment will be in the Lexington Cemetery.

Sharp

Helen Wise Sharp, 64, wife of Ronald Sharp, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at her residence.

Born May 6, 1943, in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Margery Scott Wise.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Donoho and Kimberly Waford, both of Versailles; a son, Ronald C. (Tina) Sharp, Lawrenceburg; a sister, Mary Jo Hudson, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Cindy Esham, Samantha Donoho, Misty and Adam Waford, Heather, Christina, Marjorie and Jessica Sharp; and three great-grandchildren. A son, Wade Sharp; a sister, Carolyn Brown; a brother, David Wise; and a great-grandchild, Angel Zorns, are deceased.

Services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by Bro. Frankie Layne. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Brian Brown, Clinton Brown, Brad Esham, Adam Waford, Bruce Manley, and Ervin Manley. Honorary bearers were Larry Waford, Mark Robinson, and Greg Donoho.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Wright

Nicole "Nikki" Moore Wright, 26, of Midway, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008.

Born in Fayette County, she was the daughter of Bobby and Brenda Willhite Wright. She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and worked as a cashier for Turf Catering.

Survivors include two sons, Brandon Kyle Moore and Nicholas Hayden Moore, both of Midway, and their father, Joshua Moore; three brothers, B.J. Wright, Versailles, Mark Wright, Midway, and Davey Wright, Bedford; her grandparents, Russell and Shirley Wright, Smithfield; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Glenn Corn. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
