Dixon

Vanessa Blevins Dixon, 56, of Versailles, wife of Dennis Dixon, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital East in Lexington.

Born Sept. 21, 1952, in Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Alma Patrick Blevins. She was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church and was a retired registered nurse, having worked at the St. Joseph Hospital ICU in Lexington.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Rodney Blevins, Eubank; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Clark Legacy Center. Burial followed at Buncombe Church Cemetery in Pulaski County.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Downs

Kathleen Downs, 54, of Versailles, wife of Harshell Downs Jr., died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born July 9, 1954, in Versailles, she was the daughter of Tressie Hatton of Versailles and the late Franklin Dunn. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Frankfort.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Kathy Moore, Frankfort; three sons, John and Thomas Downs, Frankfort, and Michael Downs, Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Anna Bell Long, Lucy Merrell, and Norma Dunn, all of Versailles; two brothers, Lacy and Jimmy Dunn, both of Versailles; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Brenda Rose; and a brother, Mark Dunn, are deceased.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Providence Baptist Church in Frankfort by Bro. David Rayborn and Chaplain Rick McClung.

Hutcherson

James Alton Hutcherson, 79, of Versailles, husband of Helen Hutcherson, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009,

Born June 23, 1929, in Princeton, Ill. He was the son of the late Manley Hutcherson and Edna DeSpain Hutcherson. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a graduate of Buffalo High School and Eastern Baptist Institute. He was an ironworker and rigger for 40 years and retired from Duncan Machinery Movers with 30 years of service. He started a ministry in Monticello in 1963, where he organized Faith Baptist Church. After four years, he moved his family to Versailles and helped organize Winburn Baptist Church in Lexington. His other missions included the First Church of God and multiple mission trips to Guatemala, Alaska, Mexico, and South Dakota. He was also a team member of Residents Encounter Christ Prison Ministry where worked with Kentucky federal and state prisoners. In retirement, he enjoyed working with his hands and teaching his trade.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by two sons, Roy Hutcherson, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Randy Hutcherson, Louisville; two daughters, Tammy Moore, Versailles and Debbie Adcock, Frankfort; a brother, Roger Dale Hutcherson, Magnolia; two sisters, Yvonne Skaggs, Buffalo, and Sue Tharp, Hodgenville; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Friday, Jan. 23, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill.

Kinder

Sylvia McKinney Kinder, 76, of Versailles, widow of Walter "Doug" Kinder, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born in Jessamine County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Ella Doolin McKinney. She attended the Faith Baptist Church on Huntertown Road. She was retired from Texas Instruments with 41 years of service.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna (Russell) Gardner, Versailles, Barbara (Phillip) Devers, Midway, and Lisa (Jeff) Hall, Midway; a son, Walt (Gina) Kinder, Lexington; three sisters, Clissie Arnold, Lexington, Dovie Freels, Wilmore, Nancy Arvin, Nicholasville, and Omia Bailey, Versailles; a brother, Lee McKinney, Millville; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Four sisters, Lola Smith, Scenery McKinney, Loraine McKinney, and Oniva McKinney; and three stepbrothers, Owen, Jack, and Harrison McKinney, are deceased.

Services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Bobby Lakes. Interment was in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Casket bearers were Kevin Strange, Cody Strange, Walter Kinder III, Sean Cummins, Jeff Hall, and Mitch Keaton.

Kinnius

David Ronald Kinnius, 43, of Versailles, husband of Cece McKinney Kinnius, died Sunday, Jan, 25, 2009, at the University of Kentucky A.B. Chandler Medical Center.

Born in Cheektowaga, N.Y., he was the son of Margery Kinnius of Versailles and the late Ronald Arthur Kinnius. He was a former employee of Reliance Refrigeration and Frantz Inc. and specialized in commercial refrigeration. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the Versailles Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, John David Kinnius; three sisters, Lynne (Danny) Goldmann, Lafayette, Colo., Lisa (Morgan) Vickers, Lexington, and Sharon (Gary) Blake, Lexington; two nephews; and two nieces.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Beth Silence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home.

Modica

Juanita Ann Haley Modica, 72, of Lexington, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at the Central Baptist Hospital.

Born in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Anderson Haley Wayman and Carl Haley. She was a former employee of Southland Florist.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Wright and Kathy (Johnny) Winchester, Lexington; a son, Michael Modica, Garrard County; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A sister, Barbara Cropper, is deceased.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. Burial will be private on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Lexington. The family requests no flowers.
