Bowmar

Anne Tate Bowmar, 78, of Versailles, widow of Dan M. Bowmar III, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014.

A native of Versailles, she was born on Dec. 5, 1935, the daughter of the late J.M. and Nettie Woolums Tate. She was employed by Texas Instruments and The Jockey Club. She was the former owner of Bowmar Thoroughbred Consultants and a member of Woodford Community Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Kennetha (Rick) Gayhart, Lexington; two sons, Mike (Rickie) Faust, Fillmore, Ind., and Billy (Henrietta) Faust, Versailles; a sister, Jane Dean, Versailles; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by her grandson, the Rev. Lee Faust. Burial will follow in the Versailles Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, until the time of service.

Creech

Jerry Creech, 83, of Versailles, widower of Eliza Dortha Lane, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014.

Born Dec. 7, 1930, in Wolfe County, he was the son of the late Alexander and Margaret Elizabeth Murphy. He was a farmer.

Survivors include two daughters, Gretta (Lawrence) Sea, Lawrenceburg, and Deborah (Robert) Caudill, Lexington; a son, Gary Creech, Versailles; two sisters, Thelma Smith, Ohio, and Mildred Barnes, Beattyville; a brother, Henry Creech, Campton; eight grandchildren, Shannon (Lee) Jackson, Heather (Kearn) Bayes, Adam (Stacey) Creech, Jerry Alexander Creech, Robert (Becca) Caudill Jr., Christopher (Jovan) Caudill, Kayla Sea, and Opal (Ben) Gjerstad; and five great-grandchildren, Connor Lee Jackson, Jerry James Alexander Creech, Noah Reed Creech, Autumn Danielle Creech, and Lawrence Hayden Sea. A sister, Francis Creech, and four brothers, Floyd Creech, Sydney Creech, Noah Creech, and Hiram Creech, are deceased.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 30, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by the Rev. Jerry Chaney and the Rev. Carl Jones. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Adam Creech, Jerry Alexander Creech, Robert Caudill Jr., Christopher Caudill, Lee Jackson, Kearn Bayes, and Ben Gjerstad.

Manley

Eloise Manley, 90, of Frankfort, widow of Albert Manley, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at her home.

A native of Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Margaret McWilliams Lancaster. She was a mother and homemaker who enjoyed working around her home, playing Rook, watching Gameshow Network and WWE. She was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church in Woodford County.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Faye Tracy; and a grandson, Daniel Tracy, Frankfort. A granddaughter, Elizabeth Tracy, is deceased.

Services were conducted Monday, Jan. 27, at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, Frankfort, by the Rev. Everett Hawkins and Bro. Leon Tracy. Casket bearers were Daniel Tracy, Jamie Tingle, Larry Downey, Gary and Bobby Gentry, and Donnie Cable. Honorary bearers were Keith Shuck, Lane Tracy, Tim Tracy and Pete Tracy.

Meares

Marguerite Wash Meares, 76, of Wake Forest, N.C., passed away Friday morning, Jan. 24, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Woodford County, Kentucky, to the late Mervin Wash and Dorothea Dozier Wash. Mrs. Meares attended Transylvania University for music studies and was retired from the Graphic Arts Department at IBM with over 17 years of service.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, Wake Forest, N.C. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Meares is survived by her husband of 37 years, John M. Meares Jr.; children Sam Hawkins of Versailles, KY, Kerry Hawkins and wife Sharon of Franklinton, N.C., Joel Hawkins of Louisburg, N.C., and John M. Meares III of Hickory, N.C.; grandchildren Caitlyn Hawkins, Christopher Hawkins, Meredith Meares, Melissa Meares, Amanda Morris and husband Chris, Jeffrey Meares and Sarah Meares; and great-grandchildren Aedyn Baucom, Calvin Morris and Brennan Meares. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John M. Hawkins, and a son, George Meares.

Pennington

Rose Marie Gilbert Pennington, 54, of Versailles, widow of Robert Pennington, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.

The daughter of the late Ira and Dorothy Gilbert, she worked on farms, and was the first woman construction worker in Sedwick County, Kan. In addition to working puzzles, she enjoyed raising her children and her grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters, Melissa Clay, Colby Pennington, Rachel Pennington, and Nicki Pennington; three sisters, Marjorie Gilbert, Linda Douglas, and JoAnn Gilbert; and seven grandchildren, Hailee Robertson, Akeem Clay, Bryan Epperson, Chloe Epperson, Aaron Pennington, Daisie Perez, and Anthony Perez. A brother, William "Bill" Gilbert, is deceased.

A celebration will be held at a later date in Kansas.
