Currens

Betty Jo Sayre Currens, 77, of Versailles, died Friday, June 28, 2013.

Born Sept. 13, 1935, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Gilbert Davis and Smiley Frances Sewell Sayre Sr. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Jo Currens Riley; two sisters, Edna Lee Tomlin, Louisville, and Mary Katherine Sayre, Versailles; a brother, Gilbert Davis Sayre Jr., Frankfort; and a granddaughter, Tina Riley.

A visitation was held Friday, July 5, at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Road, Frankfort.

Devers

M. Jeanette Traugott Devers, 74, of Midway, died Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Born July 22, 1938, in Casey County, she was the daughter of George Downs and Rosie Hall Downs. She was a retired dietician at Taylor Manor Nursing Home and a member of Midway Nazarene Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy (Tommy) Reynolds and Sherry (Gene) Davis, both of Corinth; a son, Donald Traugott, Stamping Ground; three sisters, Annabelle Emerson, Liberty, Virginia Kaczmarek, Berea, and Ada Gillispie, Georgetown; two brothers, Alvin Downs, Lexington and Cloyd Downs, Midway; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Monday, July 8, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by Bro. David Wotier. Burial was in the Midway Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ronald Owens, Danny Owens, Wayne Reynolds, Jimmy Marvin, Brandon Lancaster, and Jorge Espinoza.

Thomas

Eva Smith Thomas, 93, of Versailles, formerly of Dawson Springs, wife of Lester Thomas, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Taylor Manor Nursing Home.

Born Oct. 24, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Byrd and Maude Smith. She was a homemaker and worked as the manager of the Ben Franklin Store in Dawson Springs. She was an active member of the Dawson Springs Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and traveling with friends and family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Ken) Perry, Versailles, and Joyce (Al) Adkins, Burlington; a brother, Lawrence Smith, Mayfield; three grandchildren, Brian Perry, Lexington, Craig Alderson (Candice), Burlington, and Cheryl Alderson, Burlington; and two great-grandchildren, Dakota Davis and Summer Lighthall. Four sisters, Novella Cartwright, Senath Ausenbaugh, Mable Board, and Opal Hicks, and a brother, James Nichols Smith, are deceased.

Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. today, Thursday, July 11, at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home by Elder Jeff Winfrey and the Rev. Kathryn Welch. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs. Casket bearers will be Al Adkins, Ken Perry, Brian Perry, Craig Alderson, Tony Smith, and Trevor Sewell. Honorary bearer will be her great-grandson, Dakota Davis. A memorial service will be held at noon on Sunday, July 21, at the Midway Baptist Church in Midway.
