Cooper

Amanda Leigh Cooper, 28, of Lexington died Saturday, July 18, 2009.

Born July 19, 1980, in Lexington, she was the daughter of Jeff and Debbie Cooper. She was a member of the Lexington United Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, music, traveling, and playing with her niece, Addison. She graduated from high school with honors and was working and going to college as well.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Nathan (Rebecca), Versailles; a niece, Addison Cooper, Versailles; her maternal grandparents, Milton and Reneca McKinster, Versailles; her paternal grandparents, Blain and June Cooper; three aunts, Pam Cooper, Lexington, Teresa Hardy (Eddie), Midway, and Regina Fish (Carl), Versailles, and seven first cousins, Tarah Combs, Louisville, Lynette and Blake Combs, Lexington, Belinda and Jessica Adams, Versailles, and David and Amy Thomas, Lexington. An aunt, Vicki Thomas, is deceased.

Services were conducted Wednesday, July 22, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, by the Lexington United Baptist Church ministers. Interment was in Rose Crest Cemetery in Versailles.

 

Dills

Carla Dills, 52, of Versailles, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at her parents’ residence in Dry Ridge.

She was assistant director at the Woodford County Library and a member and deacon of the Dry Ridge Christian Church. She was a member of the Woodford County Theatrical Arts Association in Versailles.

Survivors include her parents, Charles and Gwen Dills, Dry Ridge; two sisters, Missy Colson and Karen Beavers, both of Dry Ridge; a brother, Chuck Dills, Williamstown; her grandmother, Naomi Marksberry, Dry Ridge; and seven nieces and nephews, Blake, Brennen and Bianca Dills, Williamstown, and Hannah and Hunter Colson and Cameron and Jemison Beavers, all of Dry Ridge.

Services were conducted Saturday, July 18, at the Dry Ridge Christian Church by the Rev. David Duggan. Burial was in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge, was in charge of arrangements.

Edwards

Anna Jean Edwards, 77, widow of Donald R. Edwards, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at her residence in Lexington.

Born in Pike County, she was the daughter of the late John and Trulie Morris. She resided in Morehead for several years, where she owned and managed several restaurants.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna J. (Scott) Wilson, Lexington; a son, John L. Edwards, Versailles; three grandchildren, Jeremy D. (Emily) Edwards, Aaron M. Wilson, and Amber N. Wilson, all of Lexington; three sisters, Lorraine Napier, Proctorville, Ohio, Marie Phillips, Meta, and Kathleen Roberts, Hodgenville. A son, Douglas Edwards; a daughter-in-law, Marianne Edwards; four brothers; and five sisters, are deceased.

Services were conducted Saturday, July 18, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Lonnie Leland. Committal and burial was at the Brown Cemetery, Morehead. Casket bearers were Jed Kerkhoff, Joey German, Warren Leet, Brad McLean, Ben Thompson, and Aaron Smither.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Hatchett

Karmen Tolson Hatchett, 69, wife of Jerry Hatchett, died July 17, 2009, at Taylor Manor Nursing Home, Versailles.

Born in Muncie, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Karl William and Thelma Vivian Hayter Tolson. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was active in the Frankfort Ward.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Debra Hatchett, Versailles; three sons, Larry Lee Hatchett, Ohio, Karl William Hatchett, Oregon, and Steven Keith (Kim) Hatchett, Utah; a sister, Pamela Tolson, Tennessee; and six grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Bishop Robert Wear. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Saturday until time of services.

Hutchison

Debbie Gilkison Hutchison, 53, of Georgetown, wife of Donnie Hutchison, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center.

Born April 16, 1956, in Versailles, she was the daughter of Billy and Maxine House Gilkison. She was a farmer in Scott County.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by three sons, Christopher, Joshua (Jennifer), and Jordan (Pamela) Hutchison, all of Georgetown; two sisters, Dianne (Mack) Head and Elizabeth (David) Waterfill, both of Versailles; two brothers, Lynn (Cindy) Gilkison, Salvisa, and Jim (Lisa) Gilkison, Midway; and three grandchildren, Abigail, Riley and Avery Hutchison.

A gathering of family and friends was held Sunday, July 19, at Clark Legacy Center, Nicholasville. A private burial was held in the Midway Cemetery. Casket bearers were Penny Greathouse, Sara Wiley, Jennifer and Pamela Hutchison, Patti Welch, Valerie Leathers, Janet McClanahan, and Nancy Lu Prewitt.

Maples

Frank E. Maples, 74, of Versailles, husband of Rebecca Bryant Maples, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at his home.

Born in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Coleman and Catherine Votaw Maples. He was a former employee of Taylor Manor Nursing Home and had worked as a valet at Bluegrass Airport.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Linda (Tommy) Roots, Mary O’Meara, and Debbie Maples; three sons, Frank E. Maples Jr., David (Michele) Maples, and Donnie (Shirley) Maples; three stepdaughters, Jennifer (Patrick) Miniard, Margaret (Stuart) Taylor, and Jill (Jason) Ramsey; a sister, Gloria Young; and three brothers, Donald, Price, and Robert Maples. Three sisters, Mary Neal, Emma Bond, and Elizabeth Reed, are deceased.

Services were conducted Tuesday, July 21, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Gilbert "Jake" Sargent. Interment was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bryan Clayton, Tammy Roots, Jason Maples, Felix Maxberry, Donald Thompson, and Eric Thompson.

McIntyre

James Edward McIntyre, 55, of Midway, husband of Elke Okruszeit McIntyre, died Monday, July 20, 2009, at his residence.

A native of Bardstown, he was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree as a civil engineer. He was an avid pilot and enjoyed playing the guitar and fishing. He was an employee of Entran and served as the deputy aviation division manager.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two stepdaughters, Dana Collins, of Prestonsburg, and Denise Cooley, Georgetown; a stepson, Kenneth Prater, Prestonsburg; his mother, Margaret Stump McIntyre, Bardstown; a sister, Patricia Cornish, Bardstown; two brothers, Tommy and Johnny McIntyre, both of Bardstown; and six granddaughters.

A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. today, Thursday, July 23, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bardstown. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Greenwell Houghlin Northside Funeral Home, Bardstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Murray

Margaret Mary Murray, 88, mother of Sister Christina Murray of Taylor Manor Nursing Home, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009.

Services will conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakeville, Ind.

Newby

Elizabeth "Puddin" Jackson Newby, 87, of Versailles, widow of Clarence Newby, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late John O. and Sarah Johnson Jackson.

Survivors include two sisters, Louann Williams, Versailles, and Martha Miller, Cincinnati; a brother, James E. Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A son, Bobby Newby; a brother, John R. Jackson; and two sisters, Mary E. Jackson and Sarah Jackson, are deceased.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, July 23, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Floyd Greene. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be today from at 11 a.m. until time of service.

Southworth

Bonnie Jean Vest Southworth, 50, of Lawrenceburg, widow of Rickey Wayne Southworth, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at her home.

Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of Forrest Richard Vest, Versailles, and the late Margaret Elizabeth Vest. She was a homemaker; a member of Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church and the Builder’s Sunday School Class; and a 1977 graduate of Woodford County High School.

In addition to her father, she is survived by a daughter, Kayla Michelle Southworth, Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Rebecca (Donald) Duncan, Monticello, and Pam (Bruce) Luttrell, Versailles; four nieces, a nephew; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; and several cousins. A brother, Charles Richard Vest, is deceased.

Services were conducted Wednesday, July 22, at Gash Memorial Chapel, Lawrenceburg, by Bro. Tracey Royalty and Paul Barrick. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Casket bearers were Donald Duncan, Bruce Luttrell, David Combs, Gene Combs, Tommy Beasley, and Jim Lewis Jr.

Yount

Imogene Lay Yount, 75, of Midway, wife of Louis Yount, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born in Casey County, she was the daughter of Vernal and Anna Games Lay.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Debbie Rodgers, Midway; a son, Louis T. (Pam) Yount Jr., Midway; a sister, Verleen Thompson, of Payne’s Depot; a brother, Chester Lay, Mt. Olivet; and three granddaughters, Amber Rodgers, Allison Yount, and Casey Littrell. A sister Yvonne Sparks, is deceased.

Services were conducted Monday, July 20, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Mark Johnson. Interment was in the Midway Cemetery. Casket bearers were Amber Rodgers, Casey Littrell, Ralph Thompson, Ron Jenkins, Butch Armstrong, Leon Hamilton, and Allison Yount.
