Bishop Marie Kathleen Bishop, 44, of Versailles, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at her residence. Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of Patricia Marie Bishop of Versailles and the late Sonny Bishop. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Christopher Bishop; a daughter, Erica Bishop; and two brothers, Jeff and Dave Bishop. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, by Minister Ronnie Hupp. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, March 19, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Crowe Judy Dale Murphy Crowe, 57, of Versailles, wife of Don Crowe, died Friday March 13, 2009, at the Bluegrass Community Hospital. Born Nov. 22, 1951, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late John and Hattie Eversole Murphy. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Teresa Cochran, Versailles, and Amanda Nichols, Nicholasville; a stepson, Michael Crowe, Versailles; two sisters, Ruby Harlow and Patsy Darr, both of Versailles; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Makayla and Abbey Cochran, Brandon Nichols, and Brieanna and Joseph Vieira; and two sons-in-law, Duane Nichols and Richard Cochran. Condolences may be made at www.clarkfuneralchapels.com. Duba Stuart Eugene Duba, Ph.D., 56, of Versailles, husband of Ann Duba, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. A Louisville native, he was an accounting manager for Milestone Realty Consultants in Lexington and was the former chief financial officer for the Catholic Diocese of Lexington. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Teresa (Philip) Hardesty, Ashland; a son, Brian (Erin) Duba, Lexington; and five grandchildren, Mary Lara, Joseph, and Catie Beth Hardesty, and William and Lauren Duba. A funeral Mass was conducted Tuesday, March 17, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Frankfort. Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Born Feb. 7, 1930, in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Ernest Eaves and Allie Utterbach Eaves. He was a retiree of Trane Manufacturing Company in Lexington, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Lakeview Seventh Day Adventist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Eaves, Greeneville, Tenn., and Cynthia (Lucian) Roberts, Bremen, Ga.; three sons, Russell Eaves, Orlando, Fla., and Ray Eaves and Steven Eaves, both of Louisville; a brother, Bobby Eaves, Georgetown; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A brother, Lucian Eaves, is deceased. Services were conducted Friday, March 13, at The Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen, Ga., by the Rev. Mark Haney. Gott John Benjamin "J.B." Gott, 81, of Lexington, husband of Bess Curry Gott, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Hospice Care Center. Born Oct. 11, 1927, in Richmond, he was the son of the late Grace Reagan and Joseph Gott. He was a member of the Crestwood Christian Church in Lexington. In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Gott Sheeler; a son, Lynn (Sheila) Gott; two grandchildren, Ashley and Lynsay Gott; a brother, William Gott; and a sister, Leatrice Charlet. A brother, Robert E. Gott, is deceased. A memorial service will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Clark Legacy Center, Nicholasville, by the Rev. Dave Blondell. Burial will follow at the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Harper Anna Cowley Robinson Harper, 94, of Lexington, widow of J. D. "Pat" Harper Jr., died Saturday, March 14, 2009. Born Oct. 17, 1914, in Berea, she was the daughter of the late Dr. B. F. and Martha Click Robinson. She lived near the Robinson Hospital in Berea until moving to Lexington at age 12. She lived in Lexington from then until her death. She was a 1932 graduate of Henry Clay High School and attended the University of Kentucky, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was a longtime member of the PEO and the Fayette Rose and Garden Club. Survivors include her children, Patricia Ann (William E.) Kirwan, Pikesville, Md., Deborah Lynn (Joe) Hallock, Lexington, Benjamin Robinson (Katherine) Harper, Lexington; a brother-in-law, William H. Harper, Lexington; her grandchildren, Bill (Jenny) Kirwan, Ann Elizabeth (Brendan) Horton, Sarah Hallock, James D. (Myra) Harper IV, Patrick Harper, John (Tabitha) Harper, Frances Branch Harper, Elizabeth S. Harper, Matthew Mullins and Griffin Mullins; her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kyle and Olivia Kirwan, Daly and Julia Horton, Emily Harper, Ashton and Victoria Hall, Katherine Sanders, and Annabel Harper; several nieces and nephews; and her cousins, Delphia Walters, LaGrange, Nell Marshall, Maysville, and Charles H. Turner of Honolulu, Hawaii. A brother, Dr. William C. Robinson, and a son, James Douglas Harper III, are deceased. She donated her body to the Alzheimer’s Research Program at the Sanders Brown Center on Aging and the UK College of Medicine Body Bequeathal Program. Means Mila Clay Brandenburg Means, 92, of Versailles, widow of Cebert D. Means, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born April 19, 1916, in Powell County, she was the daughter of the late Troy and Nancy Ratcliff Brandenburg. She had been a longtime farmer with her husband. She is survived by two sons, Preston (Vivian) Means, Lakeland, Fla., and Danny (Virginia) Means, Versailles; a son-in-law, Jim VanHoose, Somerset; 14 grandchildren, Debbie (Todd) Wright, Sherri (Dean) Mowen, Sandy (Lloyd) Jones, Phillip VanHoose, Susan (Jim) Serwan, Zack Means, Greg (Vanessa) Means, Diane (Hal) Roberts, Melissa (Scott) Wash, Kim (Tommy) Hockensmith, Kathy (David) Nutgrass, Charles Means Jr., Steve (Joani) Means, and Tim Means; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Shirley VanHoose, and four sons, Dewey, Lynwood, Charles and Larry Means, are deceased. Rowsey Mark Thomas Rowsey, DDS, 55, formerly of Versailles, husband of Karen Woods Rowsey, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in Los Altos, Calif. Born Feb. 12, 1954, in Los Angeles, Calif., he attended UC Irvine, UCLA Dental School, and The University of Kentucky Periodontal Graduate Program, where he met Karen. He was a periodontist in Palo Alto since 1984. He was a partner in a successful practice until 2001 when he retired early to cope with pulmonary fibrosis, and to spend more time with his family. His hobbies included woodworking and electronics. Earlier in his life, while becoming an Eagle Scout, he developed a love of the mountains and backpacking. In addition to his wife of 22 years, he is survived by a daughter, Kristen Rowsey; two brothers, Brian and Eric; and his sister-in-law, Babby Woods (Brian) Busch. Shea Mary Abigail "Abbie" Shea, 82, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Taylor Manor Nursing Home in Versailles from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Hot Springs, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Francis Augustus and Mary Meadows Shea. She received her B.A. from the University of Kentucky and master’s degree from Xavier University. She was a retired ninth grade high school teacher who had taught at Wyoming High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, for more than 35 years. She attended Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was an animal lover. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Sandra Shea, Cleveland, Ohio; a brother-in-law, John Gihistorf, Buffalo Junction, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Her siblings, Frank A. Shea, Joan Housh, Thomas Shea, Margaret and Shea Gihistorf, are deceased. A graveside service was conducted Wednesday, March 18, at Calvary Cemetery by the Rev. John Moriarty. Sparks Jane Mulholland Sparks, 87, of Lexington, widow of John Calvert Sparks Sr., died Monday, March 16, 2009. Born in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Katharine Pieri Mulholland. A member of Cathedral of Christ the King, she was a retired real estate broker and a member of the Lexington Board of Realtors. Survivors include her children, Janie (Bob) Griffith, Cynthiana, Mary Sheila (Rick) Beaven, Susan (Greg) Martin, and John "Cal" (Patty) Sparks Jr., all of Lexington; a sister, Mrs. James Scully, Savannah, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tackett Wilma Jane Baker Tackett, 81, formerly of Versailles, wife of Milton F. Tackett, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at her home in Paris. Born Dec. 16, 1927, in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Flotella LeMaster. She was a member of the Sitka Freewill Baptist Church, Johnson, County. She had retired from Texas Instruments, and was a caregiver for many years of the late Katherine McCord and others. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Trudie (Dana) Reed, Paris; four sons, Eddie (Marlene) Davis, Versailles, Jerry (Yolanda) Davis, Bellvue, Wash., Fred (Kelly) Baker, Berea, and Bryan Baker, Georgetown; three stepchildren; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A daughter, Claretta Cawby, is deceased. Services were conducted Wednesday, March 18, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Jim McKenzie. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery.
