Bradshaw

Carol Washington Bradshaw, 63, of Versailles, wife of Robert Bradshaw Sr., died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at her residence.

Born in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Ovell Washington and Dora Bush and was a member of Second Christian Church in Midway.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Carolyn E. (George) Cole, Versailles; a son, Robert (Mechalle) Bradshaw Jr., Versailles; three sisters, Joan Carter and Betty Brown, Frankfort, and Elanor Morton, Midway; five grandchildren, Shonda Bradshaw, Kimberly Thornton, Latrice Bradshaw, Kamille Cole, and Moe Moe Cole; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Saturday, May 23, at Second Christian Church in Midway, by the Rev. Edgar Wallace. Interment was in the Midway Cemetery.

Dempsey

Goodwin Thompson Dempsey, 46, of Frankfort, formerly of Versailles, died Sunday, May 25, 2009.

He was a clerical assistant for the Developmental Disabilities Council, a member of First Baptist Church, Frankfort, a former member of Versailles Baptist Church, a Kentucky March of Dimes Poster Boy for three years, received the Grace Dean music award upon graduating from Lafayette High School, was a recipient of the Governor’s Achievement Award, a member of the Lexington Barbershop Chorus and sang in both church choirs. He was politically active in the Democratic Party and an avid UK fan.

Survivors include his mother, Martha G. Dempsey, Frankfort; and a sister, Melissa Dempsey Dienst, Stanton. His father, Robert H. Dempsey; and his sister, Dianna Dempsey Bojarski, are deceased.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, May 28, at First Baptist Church, St. Clair Street, Frankfort, by Dr. David Hinson, the Rev. Jim McKinley, and the Rev. Truitt Coconaugher. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to the time of service Thursday at the church. Casket bearers will be Craig Morgan, Steve and Brian Wilkins, Ray Goodrich, Scott Hales, Adam Jones, Tom Moore, and Roddy Williams. Honorary bearers will be Dr. William Foley, Dr. William Graul, Dr. Brian Shouse, Dr. Willis McKee, and Goodwin’s co-workers. Clark Funeral Home, Versailles Road, Frankfort, is in charge of arrangements.

Contributions are suggested to the choir programs at First Baptist Church, Frankfort, or Versailles Baptist Church.

Kaenzig

Claude A. Kaenzig, 86, of Versailles, widower of Edna Duncan Kaenzig, died Friday, May 22, 2009, in Lexington.

Born March 22, 1923, in Versailles, he was the son of the late John and Ella Sutherland Kaenzig. He was a retired farmer and fruit grower, having owned and operated Kaenzig Orchards. He was a member of Pinckard Baptist Church, having served as teacher, deacon, minister of music and chairman of the building committee. He was a member of the Soil Conservation Board, county ASCS committee, a Farm Bureau director, charter member of the Woodford County Gideon Camp and Gideons International. He also served on the board of the Kentucky Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Claudia Jean "Jeanne" (Bill) Evans and Carlene K. (Mike) Hardin, both of Versailles; and a grandson, Jonathan Hardin. A son, Robert Allen Kaenzig; five brothers; and two sisters, are deceased.

Services were conducted Tuesday, May 26, at the Pinckard Baptist Church by the Rev. Doug Simpson. Burial was in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers and honorary bearers were Jonathan Hardin and the deacons of the Pinckard Baptist Church. Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, was in charge of arrangements.

Sparks

Hargus Victor Sparks, 55, of Versailles, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at his residence.

Born March 11, 1954, in Versailles, he was the son of the late Hargus and Ineth McKinney Sparks. He had been a painter with Simpson Painting and was a volunteer with the Midway Fire Department.

Survivors include a daughter, Victoria M. Sparks, Michigan; two brothers, Jimmy (Carol) Sparks, Lexington, and Norris Sparks, Midway.

Arrangements are pending at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill.
