Goocher Reuben Ray Goocher, 68, of Round Rock, Texas, husband of Linda Goocher, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, of pulmonary disease. Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Virginia Sapp and Reuben Goocher. He graduated from Henry Clay High School. Afterwards, he joined the U.S. Army Reserve and was employed by IBM in Lexington. He relocated to Austin, Texas, in 1970 and retired from IBM after 31 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church. In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by two sons, Paul and Mark (Jennifer) Goocher, Austin, Texas; a daughter, Kimberly Hays, Round Rock, Texas; eight grandchildren, Brian (Coral), Christopher (Anna), Jason, Jeremy, Jaclyn, Tyler, Justin, and Laci; three great-grandchildren, Kelsi, Caiden, and Breanna; a sister, Joyce (James) Way, Versailles; and many nieces and nephews. Hilton William F. Hilton, 79, of Versailles, husband of Wanda V. Hilton, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Born July 11, 1929, in Woodford County, he was the son of the late James Augusta "PI" and Madlyne Stewart Hilton. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Pentecostal Church in Versailles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Diana Bedwell, Midway, and Karen Sargent and Debra (Don) Caudill, both of Versailles; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Christine McMurray, Frankfort, and Clara "Sally" Wallace, Lawrenceburg. A daughter, Melissa Kay Hilton, is deceased. Graveside services will be conducted at 11a.m. today, Thursday, May 7, at Sunset Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Wayne McMurray. Casket bearers will be Michael O’Neal, Don Caudill, Ben Cox, Ed Wallace, Steve McMurray, and Dennis Cammack. Clark Funeral Home, Versailles Road, Frankfort, is in charge of arrangements. Houlihan Mary Catherine Houlihan, 77, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Taylor Manor Nursing Home, Versailles. Born and raised in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Harry Scott and Dora Reynolds Houlihan Sr. She attended St. Catharine’s Academy, Cardome Visitation Academy in Georgetown, and graduated from Nazareth School of Nursing, affiliated with St. Joseph Hospital. A registered nurse for 40 years, she served 38 of those years at St. Joseph Hospital from which she retired in 1994. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where she was active in the Rosary Club and the Golden Age Society and served as treasurer of the Pro Life Committee. She is survived by a brother, Paul Reynolds Houlihan (Penny); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Harry Scott Houlihan Jr. and George Edward Houlihan, are deceased. A Funeral Mass was conducted Wednesday, May 6, at St. Peter Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. McCall Allen McCall, 88, of Taylorsville, husband of Jessie Bivens McCall, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at his residence. Born Sept. 3, 1920, in Powell County, he was the son of the late Floyd Whitney and Rettie Willoughby McCall. He was a retired farmer and former bus driver for the Spencer County Schools. In addition to his wife of 69 years, he is survived by a son, Jim (Carol) McCall, Elk Creek; two granddaughters, Gwendolyn Jane McCall, Frankfort, and Dawn (Johnny) Johnston, Elk Creek; a grandson, James Allen (Gwen) McCall, Elk Creek; a great-granddaughter, Whitney Johnston; and a great-grandson, Cameron McCal Hawthorne. Services were conducted Wednesday, May 6, at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home by the Rev. Joshua McFarland. Interment was in the Elk Creek Cemetery. McNees Chester McNees, 90, of Lexington, widower of Margaret Mae Booth McNees, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the Berea Healthcare Center. Born April 24, 1919, he was the son of the late George and Rosie Elizabeth Slade McNees. He was an inspector for several construction companies over the years. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Ann R. (Bruce) Patterson, Harrodsburg, and Sherry R. (Sonny) Thompson, Burgin; a stepdaughter, Carolyn (Kenny) Barnette, Lawrenceburg; two sons, Benny C. (Annette) McNees, Rockwood, Tenn., and Terry (Sheila) McNees, London; a stepson, Gayle Booth, Eminence; two sisters, Helen (Marvin) Hudson, Frankfort, and Betty Nicholson, Lexington; and several grandchildren. Two brothers, Berry and Orville McNees, are deceased. Services were conducted Tuesday, May 5, at Clark Funeral Home, Versailles Road, Frankfort, by Bro. Joe Smith. Parker Jr., 66, of Versailles, husband of Lee Parker, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the University of Kentucky A.B. Chandler Medical Center Hospital. Born in Hemingway, S.C., he was the son of the late Carl L. Parker Sr., and Alberta Swinnie Parker. He was a trainer of Saddlebred horses at Nelson Green Stables in Nicholasville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Tyler Parker, Versailles; a sister, Patricia Willimon; and two brothers, Donald E. Parker and Fred W. Parker. Thompson, 70, of Versailles, husband of Pauline Thompson, died Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was a retired 34-year employee of Texas Instruments, a member of Woodford Community Christian Church, and a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Teresa (Lynn) Huddleston, Rhonda (Lewis) Reed, and Tina (Charlie) Cooper, all of Versailles; two sisters; a brother; and several grandchildren. Born July 23, 1933, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Revel and Ruby Lewis Coulter. She was a retired employee of Reliance Electric, a member of the Lawrenceburg Church of Christ, the Anderson County Senior Citizens and enjoyed quilting. Survivors include a daughter, Sheila (Ollie) Purvis, Frankfort; two grandsons, Kelly Buffin, Versailles, and David (Jennifer) Buffin, Lawrenceburg; five great-grandchildren, Alyssa Buffin, Hailey Buffin, Emily Charlene Buffin, Shelby Taylor, and Grace Buffin; a sister, Stella Coulter, Springfield; and a brother Tommy Coulter, Willisburg. Way, 64, of Versailles, husband of Joyce Goocher Way, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the Bluegrass Community Hospital in Versailles. Born June 22, 1944, in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Bethel and Myrtle Todd Way. He was a member of the Woodford Community Christian Church, the Craig’s Creek Muzzleloaders Club and was retired from Rockwell International in Winchester, having worked in quality control. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Delena (Chris) McGaughey, Lawrenceburg; three sons, Jeff Way, Lawrenceburg, and Danny (Kevin) Way and Brent Way, both of Versailles; a sister, Shirley Willoughby, Paris; four brothers, Charles Neal, Harrodsburg, David Neal, Georgetown, Gene Neal, Lexington, and Donnie Neal, Florida; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Two brothers, Robert Neal and Jerry Way; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Way, are deceased. Services were conducted Monday, May 4, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by the Rev. Randy Nation. Whitehead Alice Howard Whitehead, 78, of Lexington, formerly of Crab Orchard, wife of Samuel "Frosty" Whitehead, died Tuesday, April 27, 2009, at her residence of Alzheimer’s disease. Born Oct. 1, 1930, at Loyall in Harlan County, she was the daughter of the late Hamp L. and Jesse Rogers Howard. She was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church and was a former manager of the claims accounting department of American Mutual Insurance Company. She was a member of the Insurance Women’s League and was a former operator of the Sweet Shop in Crab Orchard. She was an avid bowler. In addition to her husband of 60 years, she is survived by three children, Rhonda (Levi) Gordon, Lexington, Gary Whitehead, Lexington, and Avonia (Joseph) Allor, Lexington; a brother, Jimmy Wayne Howard, Brodhead; two sisters, Erna (Jaro) Albright, Crab Orchard, and Sheryll (Mike) Goodwin, Stanford; four grandchildren, Lani Whitehead, Lexington, Chia Gordan, Lexington, Stacy (Chris) McCann, Seattle, Wash., and Hunter Gastineau, Versailles; and two great-grandchildren, Ciaran and Owen Samuel McCann, Seattle, Wash. A granddaughter, Alisha Gastineau; and two sisters, Virginia "Jen" Clark and Sonja Kay Hooker, are deceased. Services were conducted Friday, May 1, at the Crab Orchard Baptist Church by Bro. Kaywood Morris. Burial was in the Crab Orchard Cemetery. Casket bearers were Roger and Richie Bray, Hunter Gastineau, Chia Gordon, Nickey Goodin, and Joy Albright.
