Ford

Dorothy Ford, 96, of Versailles, widow of William Ford, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born in Somerset, she was a retired employee of Texas Instruments. She was a member of Versailles Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Charlie Ford and Carl (Rose) Ford, both of Versailles; and four grandchildren.

Services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 7, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by the Rev. Tom Hinkle. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Fugate

Ernest Recel Fugate Jr., 59, of Versailles, formerly of Morehead, husband of Hassie Gay Fugate, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at his home.

Born April 6, 1950, in Clearfield, he was the son of the late Ernest Recel Fugate and Edna Baldridge Fugate. He was retired sergeant first class, U.S. Army. He was a member of the Woodford Christian Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition his wife, he is survived by a son, James Michael Fugate (Stacy), Versailles; two brothers, Michael S. Fugate (Roswitha), Radcliff, and John E. Fugate (Kay), Greenwood, Ind.; a sister, Diane Ball, Morehead; two grandchildren, Sydney Nicole Fugate and Taylor Paige Fugate; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home, Morehead, by the Rev. Randy Nation. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery. Full military rites were conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Casket bearers were Terry Walker, Brian Goodman, Darby Riggsby, Bryan Riggsby, Wesley Clark, and Brian Dougherty. Honorary bearers were Benjamin Bryant, Gary Taylor, Darrell Cox, Richard C. Goodman and William J. Goodman.

 

Gill

Richard Irvin Gill, 79, of Lexington, husband of Eloise Gillispie Gill, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.

Born in Huntington, W.Va., he was the son of the late Irvin George and Ellen Louise Roswall Gill. He was a retired marketing representative for IBM.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Richard Thomas (Betsy) Gill, Washington, Bruce Irvin (Mary Ann) Gill, Versailles, Joellen Gill, Washington, and Scot A. (Karen) Gill, Lexington; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were private. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, was in charge of arrangements.

 

Roberts

Hunter D. Roberts, 23, of Versailles, son of Toni Mucci of Versailles and T. Alan Roberts of Denver, Colo., died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident on Big Sink Pike.

Born in Denver, Colo., he was a 2005 graduate of Woodford Co. High School, had attended Western Kentucky University, and was a graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College. He was employed as a mechanic for National Tire and Battery.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Charlsey Nave, Versailles; his maternal grandparents, Fay and Jack Lee, Versailles; and his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Roberts, Lexington. His maternal grandfather, William L. Mucci, his paternal grandfather, Edward A. Roberts, and his maternal great-grandmother, Truman Redmon, are deceased.

A memorial service was conducted Friday, Nov. 6, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Fr. Alan Sutherland.

Sharp

Raymond Wade Sharp, 74, of Versailles, husband of Barbara Perkins Sharp, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital.

The son of the late Wade and Margaret Groves Sharp, he was a retired employee at Dixie Cup.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by two daughters, Gayla (Henry) Boone, Springfield, and Janice (Rocky) Finley, Versailles; three grandchildren, Kristen and Jordan Finley, Versailles, and Jason Sanders, Frankfort; four brothers, Bill Taylor, Ronald Sharp, and Donald Sharp, all of Versailles, and Otis Sharp, Lexington.

Services were conducted Monday, Nov. 9, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by the Rev. Gilbert Sargent. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Casket bearers were Barry Hubbard, Perry Hubbard, Ervin Manley, Bruce Manley, Allen Perkins, and Ronald C. Sharp.

Thomas

Oakey W. Thomas, 63, of Versailles, father of Michelle Thomas Evans, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at the University of Kentucky A.B. Chandler Medical Center.

The son of the late Howard and Elizabeth Anglin Thomas, he was a former technician in the heating and cooling industry.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by three sisters, Florida Martin, Barbara Villa, and Brenda Barnes; five brothers, Roger Thomas, Billy Thomas, Jack Thomas, Larry Thomas, and Mike Thomas; two grandchildren, Mathew Ray Evans and MaLeah Ann Evans; and his former wife and friend, Brenda Lancaster. A sister, Jean Greenwell, and a brother, Kelly Thomas, are deceased.

Services were conducted Monday, Nov. 9, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by the Rev. Gilbert Sargent.
