Brewer Barbara Ann Brewer, 59, of Nonesuch, wife of Jeff Brewer, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital after a long illness. The daughter of Mary Ragland Stephens and the late Roy Stephens, she was a graduate of Franklin County High School and Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in elementary education. She was a teacher in the Franklin County School System for 27 years before retiring in 2000. Almost all of her time teaching was spent at Collins Lane Elementary School. After retiring she continued to substitute teach until she became too ill to continue. She and her family have lived in the Nonesuch area of Woodford County for the past nine years. She was a member of the Nonesuch Homemakers Club and former owner of the Nonesuch General Store. She was a member of Broadway Christian Church in Lexington. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Tamie Parsons-Irby, (James); stepdaughter, Shane Davis (Jeff); two step-grandchildren, Houston Strader and Alyssa Mahle. Services were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, by Craig Yates. Casket bearers were her cousins, Jerry Stephens, Larry Ragland, and Barry Ragland; her step-grandson, Houston Strader; her nephew Rodney Britton Brewer; and Don Coffman. Bumgardner Joyce Bumgardner, 65, of Versailles, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Born in Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Durwood and Mary Edna Courtney Parks and was a member of the Kingsway Assembly of God Church. She had retired from OSRAM Sylvania after over 30 years of service. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Blevins, Versailles; a brother, Tony (Glenda) Parks, Terre Haute, Ind.; a granddaughter, Heather (Jason) Jackson, Versailles; and a great-grandson, Colebrine Lane Jackson. A Service of Remembrance will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Pastor Jeff Johnson. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Drury Ronald Noel Drury, age 74, of Lawrenceburg, husband of Doris Ann Sea Drury, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. The son of the late Thomas Lee and Mary Tensie Hoskins Drury, he was owner and operator of Drury’s Water Service for 33 years and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Willisburg Free Pentecostal Church. In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by three daughters, Pamela Joan (Glenn) Carter, Versailles, Darla Kaye (Jerry) McKinney, and Sonya Noel (Wayne) Chesser, Lawrenceburg; a son, Ronald Stewart (Pam) Drury, Nicholasville; four sisters, Marlene Peach, Freda (Stevan) Douglas, and Glenda (Dempsey) Crigger, all of Lawrenceburg, and Betty (Junior) Haydon, Springfield; a brother, Marcus (Emma) Drury, Lawrenceburg; 10 grandchildren, Veronica Janelle Drury, Andrea Janine (Mark) Hatcher, Ryan Thomas Drury, Jerry Shane McKinney, Tiffany Noel McKinney, Laiken Santana Chesser, and Jameson Cordell Chesser, all of Lawrenceburg, Crystal McKinney(James) Hellard, Frankfort, and Kara Jill Carter and Pamela Michelle Carter, Versailles; two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Alizay Peyton and Chelsey Janay Peyton, Lawrenceburg. Hall, 91, of Lexington, formerly of Tinton Falls, N.J., widower of Charlett Ellena Hall, died after a short illness. Born Oct. 12, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a chemist and former vice-president of research and development with International Flavors & Fragrances Inc, later becoming a consultant with Takasago International Corp. of Japan. Survivors include a daughter, Kim Courtney (J. Michael), Versailles; a son, Dr. Jason Hall (Mary), Bridgewater, N.J.; and seven grandchildren. At his request, no services will be held. Ivancevich John "Jack" Michael Ivancevich, 70, of Versailles, husband of Margaret (Pegi) Karsner Ivancevich, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009. Born Aug. 16, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of the late Mike and Ann Oganovich Ivancevich. He played sports, worked in the family store and served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, earned his DBA and MBA from the University of Maryland and BS from Purdue University and became a professor for more than 20,000 students and the author of 88 books. He was a professor the University of Kentucky Business School in from 1968 to 1974. He then served the University of Houston for 35 years, where he served as executive vice-president for academic affairs and provost, and business school dean, associate dean and chairman. He was selected in 1979 for the Hugh Roy and Lilly Cranz Cullen Chair of Organizational Behavior and Management, received the Ester Farfel Award for Research, Teaching, and Service Excellence, the highest honor bestowed to a UH faculty member, and was selected into the Academy of Management Fellows Group and later inducted into its Journals Hall of Fame as a Charter Member. He served on 80 doctoral and master’s committees and was associated with the Visible Changes Educational Foundation for Scholarships and Lamar High School Magnet School of Business board. In addition to his wife of 37 years, he is survived by a son, Daniel Michael (Susan); a daughter, Jill Marie David Zacha Jr.); five grandchildren, Kathryn Diane and Amanda Dana Ivancevich and Hunter David Michael, Hailey Dana and Hannah Marie Zacha; two sisters, Georgene McLaughlin and Donna Miles; and a brother, Steven Ivancevich. A daughter, Dana Louise, and his first wife, Diane Frances Murphy Ivancevich, are deceased. Services were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Pisgah Presbyterian Church. Lee Gale Patrick Harding Lee, of Lexington, wife of Donald Ray Lee, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009. Born March 12, 1939, in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Alene and Willard Harding. After graduating from Henry Clay High School, she worked at Southeastern Greyhound. She also worked for the Burley Tobacco Market for a number of years. She later was employed at Blackburn’s Frame Product, serving as secretary and office manager for 25 years. She enjoyed working with crafts and her specialty was making miniature decorative fences from old barn wood. Her business was called "Backyard Fences by Gale." Her themed miniature fences won a Blue Ribbon at the Kentucky State Fair. She was a longtime member of Tates Creek Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school, worked with the youth, and worked each year in the Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Open Bible Class and the adult choir. She enjoyed singing in the choir, playing Bunko with members of the Rachael Circle, and serving in the church nursery. In addition to her husband of 50 years, she is survived by her sons, Craig (Beth) Lee and Chris (Donna) Lee, both of Nicholasville, and Scott Lee (fiancée Debbie), Lexington; a brother, Keith (Beverly) Harding, Washington, D.C.; five grandsons, Christopher, Michael, Jacob, Jackson, and Zachary; and a granddaughter, Anna Lee. Services were conducted Monday, Nov. 2, at Tates Creek Christian Church by Tommy Simpson, Dr. Brad Walden, and James Walters. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery. W.R. McClain Rex McClain, 77, of Lexington, son of the late Thomas Burns and Viola Gregory McClain, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at his residence. He served in the U.S. Army, was a truck driver for Pepsi Cola Company, and was a member of Midway Methodist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Martha Downs, Nicholasville, and Joyce Colvert, Ohio; and a brother, David McClain, Midway. Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. Born in Williamson, W. Va., she was the daughter of Marlene Simpson Nakagawa, Lawrenceburg, and the late Clarence L. Williams. She was a homemaker, attended the Full Gospel Assembly of God, was a member of the Anderson County Community Theater, was a member of the gospel group The Chosen; and a 1980 graduate of Woodford County High School. In addition to her mother, she is survived by four sons, Billy McDaniel, Aaron McDaniel, Chris McDaniel, and Caleb Wayne, all of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Donna (Jeff) Devers, Angi (Tony) Robinson, Lawrenceburg, and Janie Johnson, Bloomfield; two brothers, Jim (Fern) Williams, Lawrenceburg, Lee (Angie) Williams, Frankfort; five grandchildren, Isabella Golzer, Lexington, Hayden Duncan, Victoria McDaniel, Chelsey Glover, Alana McDaniel, all of Lawrenceburg. Miller Kimberly Ann Miller, 43, of Versailles, a former employee of Kroger, wife of Jason Caskey, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at the University of Kentucky A.B. Chandler Medical Center following injuries sustained in a car accident. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of Edna Piscetelli Morris and the late Herman Morris. She was a member of the Woodford Community Christian Church. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two children, Kelsey Miller and Emily Miller, Versailles; a stepson, Lucas Caskey, Versailles; and a sister, Karin Sharenow, Cranberry, N.J. Nichols, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at the Central Baptist Hospital. Born in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Beatrice Shelton Newby. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Lexington. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Estes, Versailles, and Judy (Harold) Kirkland, Wilmore; two sons, Landon (Alicia) Nichols, Lexington, and Mark (Tina) Nichols, Lawrenceburg; three brothers, Ronald Newby, Lawrenceburg, and Dudley Newby and Dean Newby, Versailles; a sister, Maryland Snapp, Versailles; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Snyder Dorothy Mae Snyder, 85, of Harrodsburg, widow of Woodson Snyder, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at her home. Born Feb. 11, 1924, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Vernice and Viola (Robinson) Sallee. She was a retired Cricketeer Mfg. Co. seamstress and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, where she was a long-time nursery attendant. She was also a former band parent and booster. Survivors include a son, Larry Woodson (Barbara) Snyder, Woodford County; three sisters, Onita Sanders, Beuna Baker, and Bonnie (Harry) Barnett, all of Harrodsburg. He was a longtime employee of St. Joseph Hospital, where he was an anesthesia technician, and was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Rose Watts; and a son, Taylor Lee Watts. His grandparents, Roger "Red" Watts, Pauline Myers Watts, the Rev. Milton Kasper Parker, and Agnes Louise Rutherford Parker, are deceased. Services will be conducted at 12 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 5, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, by Bro. DeWayne Brewer and Bro. Tim Schindler.
