Clark

Lester "Les" Clark, 84, of Versailles, husband of Bettye Clark, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013.

Born in Rome, N.Y., he was the son of the late George and Roberta Clark. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, American Legion Post 67, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Everson (Evelyn) Clark, New York; and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends was held Monday, Nov. 25, at Clark Funeral Home, Versailles.

Howard

Ruby Louise Carter Howard, 80, of Versailles, a former Texas Instruments employee, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at her home.

Born in Mortonsville, she was the daughter of the late William Grant and Thelma Louise Johnson Carter and was a longtime member of the Polk Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Hamilton and Sandra Howard, both of Versailles; a son, Gene E. Howard, Lexington; three grandchildren, LaTosha Howard, Terrance Hamilton, and Joshua Howard, all of Versailles; and five great-grandchildren, Ke’juan Howard, Jeston Howard, Kanae Jackson, Joshawn Howard, and Kiya Howard. A sister, Lois Virginia Morton, and two brothers, William "Deuce" Carter and Charles Brown, are deceased.

Services were conducted Monday, Nov. 18, at Polk Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald Townsend. Burial was in the Steele Cemetery. Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Routt

John C. Routt Jr., 82, of Versailles, husband of Ann Lancaster Routt, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013.

Born Nov. 11, 1931, in Woodford County, he was a member of Versailles Baptist Church and attended Mosaic Church. He was also a veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Teri D. Routt and Rosemarie (Lonnie) Knauss, both of Versailles; a sister, Lucille Crutchfield, Frankfort; eight grandchildren, Jason (Karie) Thompson, Justin (Shelly) Zielke, Nick Zielke, John (Erin) Zielke, Zachary Knauss, Maclain Knauss, Mackinzie Knauss, and Ashli (Charles) Evans; and five great-grandchildren, Olivia Thompson, Gracie Zielke, Sam Zielke, Blake Evans, and Jacob Evans. His father and mother, his stepmother, and a daughter, Sue Routt Zielke, are deceased.

Services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 23, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by the Rev. Todd Probus and the Rev. John Brandon. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jason Thompson, Justin Zielke, Nick Zielke, John Zielke, Zachary Knauss, Maclain Knauss, Mackinzie Knauss, and Ashli Evans. Honorary bearers were Denzle Centers, Griff Reed, Charles Evans, Scott Lancaster, Lonnie Knauss, Bobby Flora, Mark Crutchfield, and Norman Morton.
