Anderson

Carl Glenn Anderson, 84, of Lexington, widower of Anne Clay Anderson, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at the Hospice Care Center.

Born in Grant County, he was the son of the late Carl and Irene Alexander Anderson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and an office manager for IBM, where he was employed for 30 years.

Survivors include a son, Mike (Denise) Anderson, Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Kimberly Hill and Kristina Banks, both of Lexington; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Helen Mullins, is deceased.

Services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, by the Rev. Justin Key. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery.

Berger

Thelma Berger, 87, of Versailles, widow of Chester Berger, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital.

Born Feb. 18, 1922, in Estill County, she was the daughter of the late Jeptha and Bessie Graves Tipton. She was a homemaker and a member of Pentecostal Church of Deliverance in Lexington.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Brown, Lexington; four sons, Chester "Buddy" (Donna) Berger, Versailles, Randall (Martha) Berger, Versailles, Glenn (Regina) Berger, Mt. Sterling, and Danny (Johnna) Berger, Versailles; two brothers, Gene Tipton, Richmond, and Bud Tipton, Ohio; three sisters Mary, Rhoda, and Faye, all of Ohio; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 26, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by Bro. Earl Hisle.

Britton

Manelle M. Britton, 62, of Versailles, wife of Lewis Britton Jr., died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at her residence.

Born Sept. 6, 1947, in Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of Manley Morgan and the late Jane Collins Morgan. She was a manager for Cricketeer Antiques and Collectibles.

In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by two sons, Shawn Hilton, Versailles, and Dalan Emerson, Nicholasville; two stepsons, Mathew Britton and Joshua Britton, both of Versailles; two brothers, Alan Morgan, Ohio, and Jim Morgan, Lawrenceburg; three grandchildren, Drew Emerson, Winchester, Sabrina Craig, Versailles, and Charlie Britton, Versailles. A son, Drew Emerson, is deceased.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Rose Crest Cemetery by the Rev. David Jones. Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, was in charge of the arrangements.

Dews

John Michael Dews, 53, of Versailles, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009.

Born in Frankfort, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Margaret Allison Dews.

Survivors include two sisters, Wanda (Walter) Dotson and Helen Duncil, both of Versailles; a brother, Robert (Carolyn) Dews, South Carolina; and several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. A brother, Joseph Lee Dews, is deceased.

Services were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Clark Funeral Home, Versailles Road, Frankfort. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Nicholas Beasley, Travis Dotson, Aaron and Ryan Dews, Jimmy Atkins and Bryan Willett. Honorary bearers were Earl Weber, Cody Sumpter and Scott Tolmach.

Howard

Conard Ray "Conrad" Howard Jr., 60, of Lexington, husband of Beverly Stewart Howard, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital.

Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Conard R. Sr. and Frances Parks Howard. He graduated from Tates Creek High School in 1968, attended Eastern Kentucky University, served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam era, and was a former member of Landmark Lodge #41, Versailles. He was third generation and a lifelong member of Macedonia Christian Church in Lexington, was an avid UK Wildcat fan, and was a member of "The 12th Man." He had retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons and had worked for Securitas at UK’s W. T. Young Library.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Heather Lowery (Jason); a son, Shane Howard; six grandchildren, Shelby, Zachary, Jan, Kiristin, Tanner, and Paige; and a brother, Glenn Howard, all of Lexington. His triplet grandchildren, Autumn, Jared, and Cameron Ray, are deceased.

Services were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Macedonia Christian Church, Lexington, by the Rev. Mark Dunn. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles, was in charge of arrangements.

McCall

Ernest McCall, 89, of Versailles, husband of Virginia McCall, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at his home.

Born in Powell County, he was the son of the late Pete and Gladys McCall. He was a retired farmer, retired from IBM and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed the McDonald Group and hiking with friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Michele Clark, Florida; a sister, Gertrude Harmon, Versailles; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A daughter, Brenda Trask, is deceased.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 1, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill.

Nash

Gobel L. Nash, 76, husband of Betty Nash, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Born Jan, 22, 1933, in Lexington, he was the son of the late Travis and Ophelia Hackney Nash. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1972 after 21 years of service. He was also a retired corporate pilot.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steve (Janet), Brownwood, Texas; a daughter, Donna Underwood (Bill), Wichita Falls, Texas; and six grandchildren, James, Patrick, and Julia Nash, Brownwood, Texas, and Amy, Alicia, and Sam Underwood, Wichita Falls, Texas.

Services were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Crestview Memorial Park, Wichita Falls, by Tom Rodgers. Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home, Wichita Falls, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

 

Zimmerman

Ruth M. Zimmerman, 72, of Lexington, wife of Jerry F. Zimmerman, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at the Hospice Care Center.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Loretta Erhart Hanthorn. She was a graduate of Toledo Waite High School and was a secretary for the Lexington Philharmonic.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Lori A. Zimmeran.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington.
