Baker Ronald Albert Baker, 65, of Lexington, husband of Dolores Webster Baker, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the Central Baptist Hospital of cancer. Born May 4, 1944, in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Mildred Anne and Albert Tee Baker. He played high school basketball at Midway High School, earning a district basketball championship. He was employed for 38 years at Square D as a group leader. While at Square D, his team was the fast pitch softball state champs for several years. He served in the National Guard from 1964 to 1970 and was an honorary envoy of Beta Sigma Phi. He was active in sports activities and coached PeeWee football at Shillito Park with one league championship. He also coached City League Youth Basketball, Junior League Pro Basketball with one national runner-up championship and coached many years of Southeastern Babe Ruth baseball, earning six league championships with the Pirates. His all-star teams were state champions and state runner- up champs. He was first base coach for the Lexington Stallions, a professional softball team. He was an avid golfer. In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Darrell) Hamm and Robyn (Mike) McCoy; a son, Jeffery Scott Baker; seven grandchildren, Michael, Kayla, Taylor McCoy and Caitlin, Cassie, Kyndyll and Courtney Baker; a great-grandchild, Haydon; two step-grandchildren, Anna Marie Hamm and Christopher Hubert Darrell Hamm; a step-great-granddaughter, Kyndal Marie Young; a brother, Glenn (Sandy) Baker. A great-grandchild, Peyton McCoy, is deceased. Services were conducted Monday, Oct. 12, at W.R. Milward Mortuary, Southland, by the Rev. Wally Rendel. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Darrell Hamm, Michael T. McCoy, Michael J. McCoy, Mike Hall, Russell Rudd, and Alex Turner. Honorary bearers were former players he coached. Carpenter David Wayne Carpenter, 51, of Versailles, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009. Born in Woodford County, he was the son of the late David T. Carpenter and of Laura Stratton Carpenter. Survivors include a sister, Tammy Hulette; a brother, Chris Carpenter; a daughter-in-law, Heather Carpenter; her stepfather, Dennis Adams; two grandchildren, Gabriel Ray and Nicolas Steven Carpenter, all of Versailles. A son, Steven Carpenter, is deceased. Services were conducted Monday, Oct. 12, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Interment was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Memorials suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass. Guestbook at www.Blackburnandward.com. Carpenter Penny S. Carpenter, 49, of Versailles, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington. She was the daughter of the late William "Bones" Lucas and Myrtle Alice Rowe. Survivors include two sisters, Debbie Cook and Tammy Dawkins; three brothers, Michael Estes, Scotty Lucas, and Tim Lucas; and two grandchildren, Gabriel Ray and Nicolas Steven Carpenter. A son, Steven Carpenter; a brother, William Lucas; and a sister, Linda Lucas, are deceased. Services were conducted Monday, Oct. 12, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Born June 5, 1925, in Clark County, he was the son of the late Virgil A. Snowden and Bertha Young Hall. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a self employed contractor. Survivors include a daughter, Faye (Jerry) Willis, Versailles; a son, Richard M. (Teri) Hall, of Coxs Creek; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Molly Cook, Lexington, Lillian Rowland, Stamping Ground, and Lida Williams, Nicholasville; and a brother, Chester Hager, Georgetown. Services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by Chaplain Chuck Vernon. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Born Nov. 8, 1952, in Woodford County, he was the son of Venard Lee Kincaid, Frankfort, and the late Janet Yocum Hatterick. He was a truck driver for Norwood construction. Survivors include his companion of 27 years, Rosemary McConnell; two daughters, Jennifer Smiley, Arizona, and Millie (Gustavo) McConnell, Lawrenceburg; three sons, Marcus Kincaid, Steven (Tasha Sutherland) Kincaid, and Neil McConnell, all of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, Jordan, Kayla, Dalton, and Lucas; five sisters, Lori, Joyce, Sandra, Sherry, and Sandy; five brothers, Leonard, Chris, Timmy, Wayne, and Ben; and several nephews, aunts, and uncles. A sister, Sharon, and a brother, Kenny, are deceased. Services were conducted Monday, Oct. 12, at Clark Funeral Home, Versailles Road, Frankfort, by the Rev. David Stratton. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Steve Huddleston, Tony Osbrook, Jordan Kincaid, Robert Cummins, Terry Kincaid, and Jamie Kinder. Pullen, 83, of Lexington, husband of Hilda Pullen, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009. The son of the late David and Ruth Pullen, he served in the Army Air Force as a pilot during World War II and was shot down behind enemy lines. He was later employed as a mechanical engineer at IBM and I. B. Moore. He owned several patents and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and expert marksman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Diane M. (Thomas C.) Sherrill, Conyers, Ga., Debbie P. (Joe) Graviss, Versailles, and Marie Pullen, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; four siblings, Richard Pullen, Michigan, Robert Pullen, California, and Ruth Mejia and Lucille Ortwine, both of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. Two sons, Daniel Edward and David Pullen, are deceased. A funeral Mass was conducted Tuesday, Oct. 13, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Lexington. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery. W.R. Milward Mortuary, Broadway, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Right to Life of Central Kentucky.
