Berry

Baron Lee Berry, 29, of Versailles, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born March 9, 1980, he was the son of Barry Parker and the late Linda Faye Berry. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was self employed.

Survivors include a son, Devon Lee Berry; a brother, Monte DeWayne Berry; a sister, Barri Ja’neise Parker; his grandparents, Thomas and Geraldine Berry, and Barbara Parker; his great-grandmother, Emma Dee Brown; a nephew, Jared Wood; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. An uncle, Martez Berry, is deceased.

Services were conducted Monday, Oct. 5, at First Baptist Church, by the Rev. Willis Polk and the Rev. Floyd Greene. Interment followed in Steele Cemetery. Casket bearers were Darryl Parker, Shaun Murphy, Derrick Kirtley, Aulton Green, Shaun Gill, and Ryan Howard, Honorary bearers were Travis Evans, Nathan Freeman, David Penny, Dolan Warren, Travis Smith, and La Ron Bright. Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Boston

Elizabeth Edwards Boston, 104, of Elgin, Texas, widow of William R. "Dude" Boston Sr., died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at St. David’s-Georgetown Medical Center, Georgetown, Texas. after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 24, 1904, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Van and Charlotte Edwards. She resided in Versailles and Lexington before moving to Texas to live with her youngest daughter (Anita McGuire) and son-in-law (Charlie McGuire) in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Anita Boston (Charles P.) McGuire; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A son, William R. Boston Jr., and a daughter, Charlotte Grace Boston Minnich, are deceased.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Versailles Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted at First United Methodist Church, Elgin, Texas, on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m. Jones Family Funeral Home, Elgin, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 216 W. Third Street, Elgin, Texas 78621.

 

Dodge

William Gene Dodge, 73, of Lexington, husband of Patsy Dodge, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009.

Born Dec. 3,1935, in Endicott, N.Y., he was the son of the late Laverne and Juanita Dodge. After graduating from Union-Endicott High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958. In 1959 he moved to Lexington to begin his 33-year career with IBM. He was actively involved in youth athletic leagues in Lexington, including coaching baseball at Valley Little League and Turfland Babe Ruth. He was an avid UK basketball fan and golfer.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by a son, Bobby (Linda)Dodge; a daughter, Kristy (Cliff) Kennon; seven grandchildren, Sam, Casie, Ethan and Jacob Dodge, Travis and Brooke Kennon, and Madisyn Dodge; and a sister, Ella "Tootie" Olver. A brother, Bob, and a son, Darren Thomas Dodge, are deceased.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 8, at W.R. Milward Mortuary, Southland. Honorary bearers will be Doug Simpson, Charlie Maynes, Eddie Litteral, Victor English, Cliff Kennon, Chuck Olver, and Mike Rushanski.

 

Johnson

Ray H. Johnson, 89, of Lexington, husband of Emma Jean Johnson, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at his residence.

Born in Nokomis, Ill., he was the son of the late Herman and Naomi Johnson. He was retired from the Avon Army Depot and was a World War II veteran, having served in the "Devil’s Brigade" special unit, and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and four Battle Stars. He was a member of Northview Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 313.

In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Jean Mitchell (Mike) Tenniesl, Riverside, Calif.; three sons, Walter (Loretta) Johnson, Versailles, Kenneth Johnson, Lexington, N.C., and Ronald L. Johnson, Lexington; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Morez, Pana, Ill. Two brothers are deceased.

Graveside services were conducted Friday, Oct. 2, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street, Lexington, was in charge of arrangements.

Oliver

Dorothy Sears Oliver, 90, of Georgetown, widow of Harry Willoughby, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009.

Born Aug. 14, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lula Hipshire Sears. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of Newtown Christian Church and the Scott County Senior Citizens.

Survivors include three children, Harry Lee Willoughby (Laura), Versailles, and Thomas Willoughby and Barbara Owens McKenney (Cecil), both of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Vickie Gillispie, Mike Owens, Cheryl Slugantz, Kim Carmickle, and Dana Willoughby; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Nine brothers and sisters, Archie Sears, Allen Sears, Harvey Sears, Eugene Sears, Edith Burgin, Stella Robertson, Cora Phelps, Annie Ward, Mattie Sears; and a grandchild, Elizabeth Willoughby, are deceased.

Services were conducted Saturday, Oct. 3, at Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home, Georgetown, by Bro. Jeff Gibson. Burial was in the Georgetown Cemetery. Casket bearers were Sam Ward, John Ward, Larry Burgin, Charles Burgin, Jerry Sears, and Archie Sears. Honorary bearers were Terry Sears, Larry Wayne Sears, Johnny Florence, D.K. Lovely, Don Burgin, Harold Burgin, Geraldine and Fred Bowles.

 

Razor

LeGrande Barker Razor, 80, of Versailles, wife of William "Bill" Razor, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at the Wesley Village Retirement Center.

Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Donald Justice and Georgia Green Barker. She was a homemaker and attended the University of Kentucky. She was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lucia Davis and Diane Scott; and a son, Philip Barker Razor (Piper); five grandchildren, Brittani Davis Ford (Patrick), Joshua Davis, Caitlin and Stephanie Sinclair, and Eden Margaret Razor.

Services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, by Pastor Bob W. Baldridge. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery. Casket bearers were Brad Jones, David Sutherland, Arnie Westlund, John Davis, Nathan Baker, and Matthew Coyle.

 

Tucker

Dorothy Littrell Tucker, 84, of Versailles, wife of Everett Tucker, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at her home.

Born in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Stella Richardson Littrell, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband of 66 years, she is survived by three grandchildren, Troy, Khristian, and Jason McDannold; two sisters, Margaret Hatton and Evelyn Whitledge; four great-grandchildren, Shelby, Ann, and Lauren McDannold, and Logan Lewis; a niece, Susan Hatton Long; and a nephew, Gary Lynn. A daughter, Linda Louise Tucker, is deceased.

Services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Fr. Alan Sutherland and Bro. Jim Allen. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Allan Tucker, Bill McIntyre, Don Clark, Troy McDannold, Khristian McDannold, and Jason McDannold. Honorary bearers were Jack Stantz, Tillie Dunn, Archie Adams, Forrest Whitledge, Billy Dale Lancaster, Larry Bowman, and Eddie Tucker.

Urbiztondo

Pedro Urbiztondo, 76, of Versailles, husband of Sally M. Urbiztondo, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at his residence.

Born in the Phillipines, he was the son of the late Semion O. Urbiztondo and Aguida M. Urbiztondo.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Emily U. Wilson, Emmalinda U. Asuncion, and Imelda M. Urbiztondo; a son, Al M. Urbiztondo; and three grandchildren, Leah Juanlynne U. Asuncion, Jessree U. Asuncion and Chad J. Wilson.

No services were conducted. Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
