Barbara Atwood, 61, of Versailles, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at the Hospice Care Center.
She was the daughter of the late Jesse Willard and Dollie Frances Wilson Atwood and was retired from Lexmark.
Survivors include two sisters, Gail Canary, Indianapolis, Ind., and Brenda (David) Owens, Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Jesse (Cheryl) Atwood, Brookport, Ill., and Donald Atwood, Versailles; a cousin, Pam Turner, Midway; and six nieces and nephews. A nephew, Denny Burton, is deceased.
Services were conducted Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Pastor Gene Young. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery in Versailles.

Gerald (Jerry) Paul Boerschinger, 65, of Versailles, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012.
Born in Eau Claire, Wis., on Sept. 20, 1946, Jerry had lived in Lexington since 1968. He was the son of the late Paul J. and Ruth Henquinet Boerschinger and was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Anna Wester, and his beloved dog, Porsche. He is survived by his sister Mrs. Sharon Paskevicz (John); his daughters, Stephanie Boerschinger and Jennifer Tejeda, and their sons, Joshua Boerschinger and William Wester; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Jerry was a math teacher at Lafayette High School from 1968 to 1997, where he was also a baseball coach for many years. He worked for the Lexington Parks and Recreation department for 20 years.
Jerry was active in the Versailles United Methodist Church and was an avid sports fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers. He was a loving father and grandfather, caring brother and devoted friend.
Memorial services will be conducted today, Thursday, Aug. 30, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Milward’s, 1509 Trent Blvd, Lexington.

Donna Jolene Hansbrough, 77, widow of Donald Wright, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at the Hospice Care Center.
The daughter of the late Bernard and Helen Fifield Irons, she was a 1953 graduate of Corpus Christi High School.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie (Mark) Deahl, Versailles; a sister, Mary Johnson, Galesburg, Ill.; three grandchildren, D.J. Wilson (Rachel), Ashley Wilson, and Bethany Wilson all of Versailles; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Nancy Day, and a brother, Richard Irons, are deceased.
Services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Watson – Thomas Funeral Home in Galesburg, Ill. Burial was in Memorial Park in Galesburg.

Donna B. Kelly, 81, of Lexington, widow of William R. Kelly, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at the Central Baptist Hospital.
Born in Missoula, Mont., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ellen Buls. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Versailles and a member of the Junior League and UNC Alumni Delta Gamma. She was a former Miss Montana, a professionally trained operatic singer, and a longtime member of the Lexington Singers.
Survivors include a stepson, William Rodes Kelly Jr., Stamping Ground; two daughters, Glenda Ellen (Bob) Higgins, Collierville, Tenn., and Donna Jeane Kelly, Chapel Hill, N.C.; a son, David M. Kelly, Georgetown; eight grandchildren, McClure Kelly, San Francisco, Calif., Travis Kelly, Austin, Texas, Rachel Higgins, Arlington, Tenn., Katherine Babri, Louisville, Christopher Kelly, Cincinnati, Ohio, Jeremy Kelly, Louisville, Gregory Kelly, Georgetown, and Emily Kelly, Georgetown; and a great-grandson, William McClure Jr. A brother, Arthur M. Buls, and a sister, Alice Anne Lory, are deceased.
A memorial service was conducted Saturday, Aug. 25, at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Versailles. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street, Lexington, was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Jane Cariel Smithers, 86, of Lexington, widow of Herschell Smithers, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012.
Born in Versailles in 1926, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Wesley and Ora Neal Jelf Cariel. She was retired from the Lexington Clinic after 40 years. She was a 46-year member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was an avid reader, golfer, and gardener, and enjoyed art, music, theater, film, travel, and watching the Kentucky Wildcats.
Survivors include three children, Linda Carol Smithers Hunter (Kendell), Roger Dale Smithers, and Beverly Jean Smithers Swimm; five grandchildren, Jonathan Wesley Hunter, and Kathryn Jean, Thomas Benjamin, Joshua Jacob, and Holly Linda Swimm; and 10 nieces and nephews. Five siblings "Jake" Cariel, Mary Gray West, Jean Cariel, "Jiggs" Cariel, and Ora Cariel, are deceased.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 30, at Milward-Man O’ War, Lexington.

Kathleen Stevens Tipton, 91, of Versailles, widow of Thomas P. Tipton, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at her home.
Survivors include six daughters, Judy Way, Rosemary Abrams, Loretta Ratliff, Ida Smith, Mildred Snyder (Danny), Toni Davis; three sons, Thomas Junior Tipton (Dinah), Michael Joe Tipton (Marie), and Sammy Lee Tipton (Lilia); 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; four brothers; and a sister. Three daughters, Donna Joy Tipton, Sunbeam Tipton, and Dovie Tipton, are deceased.
Services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by Bro. Terry Gillium. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Justin Tipton, Lucas Tipton, Jimmy Ratliff, Chris Ratliff, Jonathan Spencer, and Stephan Way.
