Brandenburg

Robert Lee "Buck" Brandenburg, 46, of Lexington, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.

Born Aug. 26, 1965, in Versailles, he was the son of Rose Mary Smith Brandenburg and the late Coleman D. Brandenburg.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three brothers, Edgar Dale (Jodi) Hill, David Wayne Hill, and Richard Carl (Angie) Brandenburg; three sisters, Deborah Jean (Jeff) May, Brenda Joyce (David) Hulette, and Faith Darlene Atkins.

Services were conducted Tuesday, June 12, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street, Lexington. Burial was in the Midway Cemetery.

 

Courtney

Helen Lay Courtney, 65, of Versailles, wife of Oliver Wayne Courtney, died Saturday, June 9, 2012.

A native of Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Lucille Crutcher Lay. She was a homemaker and an active member of Versailles Huntertown Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to her husband of 49 years, she is survived by a son, Darrell (Tracy) Courtney, Versailles; two grandsons, Cody and Brett Courtney; a sister, Judy Smith, Lawrenceburg; and a brother, Billy (Janet) Lay, Versailles.

Services were conducted Wednesday, June 13, at Versailles Huntertown Church of the Nazarene by the Rev. Beth Ellenburg and Rev. Gary Maynard. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Casket bearers were Brent Fatemi, Troy Nichols, Greg Nichols, Jimmy Lay, Billy Lay Jr., and Jamie Anderson. Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, was in charge of arrangements.

Gilvin

Pete Gilvin, 81, of Versailles, husband of Pauline Walling Gilvin, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.

He was born in Falmouth, Ky., to the late Elliott Lee and Rhoda Plummer Gilvin on Jan. 4, 1931. Mr. Gilvin was a farmer.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Garey (Teresa) Gilvin, Richmond, and Gregg Gilvin, Versailles; loved and accepted like a daughter, Shirley Holbrook, Versailles, and her children Juile, Daniel and Lucy, and her sister, Loretta Clayton.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 8, 2012, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, with the Rev. Rick McClung officiating. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were Brian Clayton, Cory Hopper, Daniel Hopper, Curtis Ingram, Nick Abner, and Tim Holbrook. Honorary casket bearers were J.C. Moraja, Harold Hunt, and Scott Applegate. Special thanks to J.C. and Mary Moraja for years of love and support. Harold and Joyce Hunt for showing special love and kindness. Heritage Hall, Hospice, Clark Funeral Home for all their great care, and all other friends who helped.

Long

Marcella C. Long, 72, of Midway, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Fender Funeral Directors, Lexington, is in charge of arrangements.

 

Mooney

Larry Mooney, 62, of Lexington, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at his residence.

Born Dec 20, 1949, in Versailles, he was the son of the late Walter and Lucille Plunkett Mooney. He was a retired respiratory therapist for the St. Joseph Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Mooney (Beth Thompson), Versailles; a son, Patrick O. Mooney, Lexington; and a brother, Kenneth (Gladys) Allison, Lexington.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, June 14, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, by Pastor Heather McColl. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery.

 

Warner

Estill "Buddy" Warner, 54, of Versailles, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012.

Born April 24, 1958, in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Bertha Lowe and the late Clarence Warner. He was a farmer.

Survivors include three sons, Buddy Carl Warner and Danny Wayne Warner, Versailles, and Charles Anthony Parker, Nicholasville; two sisters, Roseanne Doyle, Winchester, and Dixie Hazelwood, Frankfort; two brothers, William Douglas Warner, Lexington, and Robert Lowe, Indiana; a grandson; and a special niece, Mya Hazelwood.

A memorial service was conducted Friday, June 8, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill.
