Midway City Council approved the same property tax rate applied in 2025-2026 for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, 40 cents per $100 of assessed property, at its regular meeting Monday night.

“This is the exact same rate as last year,” Mayor Grayson Vandegrift said. “We will realize a little more revenue this year and we could have gone higher without (risking a recall petition) but this is more in line with increased costs of living for everyone . . . and everyone’s went up last year with the property reassessments.”

Sidewalk project

Vandegrift announced that the bid of White House Concrete for redoing the sidewalk between First and Second streets in the amount of $34,820 had been selected. Vandegrift said the pre-construction meeting with White House will take place soon, and he hopes the work will be complete by the end of September.

In light of the annual Fall Festival, Vandegrift said accommodations will be made so the work does not interfere with the event.
