Lady Jackets go 1-1 on first day of W. Hills tourney
The Woodford County High School girls’ basketball team finished the first day, Tuesday, Dec. 29, of the Community Trust Bank Invitational at Western Hills with a 1-1 record, as they defeated Ballard 54-34 in their opener, but then lost to Shelby County 46-31 in their second game. The Lady Jackets then played the winner of Western Hills-Owen County game on Wednesday, Dec. 30, in the third-place game. (Results were not available at press time, but will appear in next week’s Woodford Sun.) In their win against Ballard, eighth-grader Delaney Enlow scored a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Caitlin Ferguson also had another outstanding game, as she led the team with 24 points and hit 10 of 11 free throws. In addition, sophomore Peyton Rose scored seven points, five steals and five assists in the game, while eighth-grader Abby Moffett had seven points, and senior Erica Hysell and sophomore Kassie Cook had two points each. In their loss to Shelby County, Enlow had her second double-double of the day with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Ferguson led the team in scoring with 14 points. Also, Hysell had three points, and Moffett and freshman Allison Birch had two points each.
