John M. Bowman Sr., 89, of Versailles, husband of Patricia Shearer Bowman, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at the St. Joseph Hospital. Born at Faywood in Woodford County, he was the son of the late William Lonzo and Stella Mae Bowman. He was a retired mechanic, service station owner, and farmer. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Freddie) Bond and Jerri Lynn Bowman, both of Versailles; four sisters, Anna Belle Gill, Midway, Laura Robinson, Versailles, and Kitty Riddle and Alma (Ralph) Warford, both of Lawrenceburg; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A son, Marty Bowman; five sisters, Goldie Bowman, Anetta Robinson, Edith Carter, Lila Goins, and Lora June Serber; four brothers, Alonzo Bowman, Kelly Bowman, Alfred Bowman and Lawrence Bowman, are deceased. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 14, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, by Pastor Joe Collins, the Rev. Ken Lyle, and nephew Kenny Robinson. Burial with military honors will follow at Rose Crest Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Gideons International of Woodford County, P.O.
