Jennie “Brooks” Lewis, 94, of Versailles, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, under hospice care at Oakhurst Center in Ocala, Fla. Born March 1, 1921, in Midway, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillie (Pittman) Shryock. Brooks lived a life of service to both God and others. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and a beloved caregiver to many families throughout her life. Brooks was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucy Jackson, Elva Butts, and Viola Cook. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Cariel of Indianapolis, Ind.; her daughter, Leetha Lewis of Versailles; her son, Buddy (Cindy) Littrell of Ocala, Fla.; and three granddaughters, Emily Brown Edwards (Jeremy) of Louisville, Blythe Brown of Versailles, and Brooke Littrell of Ocala, Fla. A private family service will be held in her honor in Ocala, Fla.
