Chamber starts youth business leadership group
The Woodford County Chamber of Commerce is initiating a new program for 11th and 12th grade high school and home school students called Woodford County 2016 Youth Business Leadership Program. This program is free for students. The mission of the group is to prepare students for leadership through education and hands-on interaction, touching upon business issues and resources pertaining to our community. The goals and objectives are to: • Provide in-depth programs that acquaint participants with the business community in regards to needs, issues and resources. • Meet and interact with local leaders and decision makers. • Teach the need for understanding soft skills with relationship to getting a job. • Identify opportunities and challenges faced in career selection. • Foster leadership development. • Create a network of young leaders to guide the future of our community. • Provide a job-shadowing opportunity. The program will be conducted at Woodford County High School from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. once a month.
