Billy Joe Godby, 66, of Versailles, husband of Marlyn (Lewis) Godby, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at his home, of cancer. Born Aug. 8, 1949, he was the son of Joseph Arnold and Bonnie Godby. He was an active member of the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church for 42 years and was instrumental in the construction of the new church building and Cross Center. He was retired from Kuhlman Electric Corp., Versailles, and enjoyed driving and showing his classic 1967 Chevelle. In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by two sons, Rodney and Bobby Joe (Jennifer) Godby; three grandchildren, Samantha, Jamee and Phillip; two great-grandchildren, Addilyn and Owen; and two brothers, Don (Helen) of Eaton, Colo., and Ed (Peggy) Godby of Owenton. A celebration of life service was conducted Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, Midway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, Building Fund. Condolences may be expressed at www.clarklegacycenter.com.
