Edgewood Farm hearing postponed

A public hearing on a request to rezone approximately 405 acres on Lexington Road (known as the Edgewood Farm property) that was scheduled for tonight, Thursday, March 3, at 6:30, has been delayed until a later date at the request of the City of Versailles. In a letter to the Planning Commission, Mayor Brian Traugott asked that the public hearing be delayed until the commission's April 14 meeting. The commission will make the final decision on when to reschedule the hearing. Traugott stated in his letter that the applicant requesting the zone change and an expansion of the Versailles urban service boundary agreed to delay the public hearing. Property developer CRM Companies wants to rezone the land at 1450 Lexington Road (mostly zoned for agricultural uses) in order to bring new retail businesses, light industrial uses as well as high- and low-density housing to the site, located east of the Kroger Marketplace shopping center and west of Paynes Mill Road. To proceed with its plans, CRM Companies has also asked for an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan to expand the urban service boundary.
