Jennings Edwards, 95, of Versailles, husband of Laura Eaves Edwards, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at the St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Estill County, he was the son of the late Eli Palestine and Ethel Reed Edwards. He was a retired employee of National Distillers. His family moved to Versailles when he was 12 years old and he became a member of the Versailles Baptist Church. He was a golfer and played baseball and was an avid fan of the UK Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds. In addition to his wife of 69 years, he is survived by a son, Jennings Morris (Theresa) Edwards, Lake Mary, Fla.; three granddaughters, Michelle (Van) Johnson, Lexington, Jennifer (Heath) Allen, Nicholasville, and Rebecca (Ken) Kotula, Huntsburg, Ohio; two sisters, Irene Cunningham and Olga Mae Chilton, both of Lawrenceburg; a brother, Orville Seth Edwards, Lexington; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Thursday, March 3, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, by the Rev. John Brandon. Burial will follow in Rose Crest Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, the Alzheimer's Association, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
