William “Bill” Flora, 77, of Versailles, widower of Peggy H. Flora, died Friday, March 4, 2016. Born in Versailles, he was the son of the late Samuel D. and Mary Elizabeth Manley Flora. He was a 1957 graduate of Versailles High School and a retired employee and former deputy commissioner for the Kentucky Department of Parks. He coached baseball and basketball for many years. He was a Baptist and attended the Mortonsville Wings of Refuge Church. Survivors include two daughters, Melinda (Danny) Parks and Patty (Steve) Wilder, both of Versailles; a son, David Flora, Versailles; two sisters, Lilly (Billy) Cardwell, Lawrenceburg, and Bessie Fint, Hart County; five brothers, Arthur Flora and Charles (Judy) Flora, both of Versailles, Lindsey (Peggy) Flora, Tennessee, and Donald (Beulah) Flora and Sam (Debbie) Flora, both of Lexington; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and his special friend, Louise Robertson of Frankfort and her daughters, Darlene Lee and Teresa Brown. A sister, Betty Morrison, is deceased. Services were conducted Monday, March 7, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Martha Bowman and Mitchell Farthing. Burial was in the Versailles Cemetery. Casket bearers were G. B. Miller, Richard Horton, Jackie Waldrup, Tim Tandy, Charles “Buddy” Flora, and Lindsey Flora Jr. Honorary bearers were Wendell Combs, Fran Curci, Dr. Bill Collins, and Dr. C.
