Dan "Danny Boy" Collins, 94, of Versailles, husband of Christine Creth Collins, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington. Born in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Zach and Emma Daisy Million Collins. He was a retired farmer and former owner of Star Taxi. He joined the First Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. John Smothers, where he had been very active, served as an usher, and worked in the kitchen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, served for over four years, and earned the EAME Theater Ribbon with five bronze stars. In addition to his wife of over 70 years, he is survived by four children, Dan Collins Jr., Ellis (Roslyn) Collins, Geraldine Collins (Charlie) Brown, and Marilyn Collins, all of Versailles; a sister, Phyllis Dockies; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were conducted Wednesday, March 23, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Floyd Greene. Burial with military honors was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
