James Michael "Mike" Peters, 67, of Versailles, husband of Margaret "Peggy" Peters, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Born May 24, 1948, in Richmond, Va., he was the son of the late George and Cecile Carter Peters. He retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was also a past president of the Genealogical Society. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Katherine (Jason) Melton, Texas; a son, Christian Peters, Virginia; two stepchildren, Carey (Wes) Wettlaufer and Jay (Angie) Jones; two brothers, George "Joe" Peters, Lexington, and William "Bill" Peters, North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Lily Melton, Logan and Landon Wettlaufer, and Ian Taylor. Services were conducted Friday, March 18, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Casket bearers were Wes Wettlaufer, Chris Peters, Jay Jones, George Peters, Michael Peters, and Logan Wettlaufer. Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
