Geraldine Woolums Thomas, 78, of Versailles, widow of Jack E. Thomas, died Saturday, March 26, 2016. Born in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late William C. "Buck" and Minnie Francis Nichols Woolums. She retired as a Woodford County Deputy Court Clerk after over 27 years. She was an active member of the Versailles Baptist Church, a member of the Ruth Sunday School class, active in the 50 Plus club, was a member of the McDonald's Social Club, Survivors include a daughter, Gayle Thomas Waits; a son, Larry Thomas; three grandchildren, Amanda Waits, Ashley Thomas Blackwell, and Matthew Waits; and a great-granddaughter, Aleah Blackwell. Two brothers, Marvin Woolums and Carl Woolums, are deceased. Services were conducted Wednesday, March 30, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Cabell. Burial was in the Versailles Cemetery. Casket bearers were Matthew Waits, Jonathan Woolums, Michael Thomas, Tommy Thomas, Mark Thomas, John Earl Schneider, Bill Hurrigan, and Tate Davis. Honorary bearers were Dr. Monty Metcalf and Dr. Robert Hutchinson. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Versailles Baptist Church Building Fund.
