WCHS tennis defeats Tates Creek
The Woodford County girls’ and boys’ tennis teams hit the courts at Tates Creek and defeated the Commodores in strong matches. The girls’ team won 6-1 on Tuesday, April 5, while the boys’ team shut them out, 5-0, on Monday, April 4. Here are the complete results. Girls’ team In singles, Woodford’s No. 1 Addison Beck defeated Maya Reddy, 6-0, 6-1; No. 2. Haley Davis defeated Sara Clark, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7); and at No. 3, Ellington King lost to Katie Sandford, 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, No. 1 Nicole Feldner and Alyssa Feldner lost to Ellen Harrington and Olivia Burke, 6-2, 7-5; No. 2 Allison Miller and Caroline Miller defeated Sumaya Shaeash and Shama Jones in one the most exciting matches of the day, 6-4, 7-6 (10-7); No. 3 Kassie Cook and Hannah Brady defeated Victorene Frimpong and Cece Han, 8-0; and at No. 4, Sophie Wingo and Sophie Edelen defeated Morgan Boaz and Ala Hassan, 8-0. Boys’ team In singles, at No. 1, Luke Least defeated Zaeh White, 6-0, 6-0; at No. 2 Wesley Smith defeated Hunter Gregg in another exciting match, 4-6, 6-0, 10-3; and at No. 3, Max Wade defeated Franusio Serio, 7-6 (8-6), 6-0. In doubles, at No. 1 Evan Spradlin and Evan Bentley defeated Keegan Lockhart, 6-1, 6-0, and at No. 2. Joe Kowalke and Mason McIntyre defeated Mujahid Shaeash and Mick Beas, 6-0, 6-0. Next, up, the girls’ and boys’ tennis teams have a five-meet home stand. On Thursday, Woodford faces Lafayette, and then on Friday when they face Dunbar. Both meets start at approximately 5 p.m. Then on Saturday, April 16, Woodford hosts the WCI. Three teams will play in the all-day tournament: Lexington Christian Academy, Lexington Catholic and Franklin County. Play begins at approximately 9 a.m. Woodford closes out its home stand with two final meets. On Monday, April 18, they host Lexington Christian Academy and on Thursday, April 21, they host Tates Creek. Both meets start at approximately 5 p.m.
