Art in the Park
Artist Spotlight Angel Allen is the artist behind Solar Simulation, showcasing jewelry that is "handmade and Earth grown." She has been working with wire for four years, beginning modestly with wire from the garage and crystals her father had collected. Angel has refined her art in making jewelry wrapped in sterling silver, vintage brass and antique copper. She shapes and wraps the wire to show off gemstones and crystals in rings and pendants. Her nature-inspired pieces are handmade using a variety of gems, stones and crystals, but some of her unique and most popular pieces are the nature cabochons she creates herself. Inspired by nature, Angel imbeds pieces of "natural art" - hemlock cones, four leaf clovers, items from her garden, etc. - in clear resin then polishes and shapes these "gems" for her jewelry. Angel's work has done well in her Etsy shop and has sold jewelry on every continent except Antarctica. "There are Kentucky four-leaf-clovers all over the world," she says. She takes custom orders to create a unique piece with special meaning for her customers. Stop by Angel's shop, Solar Simulation, at Art in the Park, on Friday and Saturday, May 27 and 28, at The Woodford Inn.
