Helen Frances Redmon Smith, 81, wife of John L. "Jack" Smith, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at her home. Born in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Rena Abrams Redmon. A retired switchboard operator, she was a 1953 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a member of the Southside Christian Church and former member of the Versailles Baptist Church. She began her career as a switchboard operator at Texas Instruments and then retired from Good Samaritan Hospital (now UK), where she worked for over 27 years. In addition to her husband of 48 years, she is survived by two daughters, Jamie (Rick) Bourne and Susan Smith Dornbrock; her cousin who was raised as a sister, Gail (Bobby) Wilson; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services were conducted Wednesday, June 1, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronnie Hupp. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Nathan Darland, Brady Bourne, Blake Darland, Ty Dornbrock, Tristan Ferrell, Ian Ferrell, and Dylan Bourne. Honorary bearers were Adrienne Ferrell, Braxton Bourne, Maddie Bourne, Tiffany Bourne, and Jeff Collins. Guestbook at www.BlackburnandWard.com.
