2016 Rusty Parks Wrestling Camp

INAGURAL CAMP SUCCESS. Woodford County High School head wrestling coach Rusty Parks Jr. held his first-ever Rusty Parks Wrestling Camp and had great success. Forty athletes, ranging from ages 6 to 18, attended the camp at Pinckard Baptist Church, Monday through Friday, June 20 to 24. At the camp, the athletes learned a lot of wrestling techniques, both on an off the mat, and the campers were split into two teams and particpated in a dual meet on the final day of the camp. “My first camp, in my opinion, was a huge success,” said Parks. “I didn’t think we would have that many campers, but I love wrestling, so it was a great week. Big thanks to our wrestling moms, our coaching staff, our stat girls and our wrestling families. Everyone pitched in and helped out. We had a lot of new faces so, hopefully, that means more kids come out for wrestling this winter. But my goal is to expand this camp each year. Next year, I’d like to have 60 to 80 campers. This year, there were 12 different Kentucky schools represented at my camp.” (Photo submitted)
