Cress


Dempsie Cress, 66, of Versailles, husband of Joanne Flora Cress, died Friday, July 8, 2016. Born Aug. 8, 1949, in Harlan County, he was the son of the late Marsh and Chloe Hall Cress. He retired from OSRAM Sylvania, was a United States Army veteran, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of Midway Church of the Nazarene. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Marcus (Amy) Cress, Jeff (Christy) Cress, and Steve (Alissa) Cress, all of Versailles; nine grandchildren, Rachel Cress, Kerry Cress, Emma Cress, Stephen Cress, Kayleigh Cress, Riley Cress, Bailey Cress, Andrew Kartner, and Alexis Kartner, all of Versailles; and a great-grandchild, Reese Hannabach, Versailles. A sister, Francis Bailey, and two brothers, Lester Cress and Pearl Cress, are deceased. Services were conducted Monday, July 11, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by Bro. Gary Maynard. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Casket bearers were Justin Brown, Josh Hannabach, Jason Lewis, Gene Owens, Obie Barber, Stephen Cress, Danny Owens and James Crawford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midway Church of the Nazarene P.O. Box 731 Midway, KY 40347.
