Letter to the editor

American pride Editor, The Sun: I applaud the members of our community for a rebirth of the American spirit, or courage, and of honor and duty. In the last year alone, I have witnessed an explosion of American flags being displayed and people once again standing shoulder-to-shoulder to preserve our rights, our freedom, and our way of life. I am the guy who paints the rocks that are placed around town, especially the downtown area, for American Legion Post 67, Cornerstone Pharmacy, and so many other businesses and organizations, and even The Woodford Sun. It has truly warmed my heart to see all these places proudly displaying flags and to see people and businesses grab the gumption to take a stand for American values. Homeowners everywhere are putting out flags and creating beautiful displays in unique ways to show our pride. Our community more than ever is coming together to stand against violent and senseless acts of terrorism, supporting our veterans and our troops, keeping an eye open against all threats, foreign or domestic. Not since the days of our country's founding have our people stood so close. As a young man, I took an oath to defend this country against all threats - and until I draw my last breath, I will continue to propagate the freedoms, the rights, and the way of life we all enjoy. Together we will always stand, but divided we will fall. God bless the U.S.A. Charles Avery Jones Versailles
