Leadership Woodford County provides a forum for leaders and future leaders to study the community and learn the skills they will need to help promote change, improve the quality of life, and lead. Leadership Woodford County is a cooperative effort between the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce and the Woodford County Cooperative Extension Service. The program will begin in September and continue through May 2017, featuring monthly all-day meetings that will highlight different aspects of the community. Sessions will include orientation (Sept. 8), education (Oct. 6), industry (Nov. 3), health care (Dec. 1), state government (Jan. 5), local government (Feb. 2), law and justice (March 3), and agriculture and tourism (April 6). The program will conclude on May 4 with a graduation ceremony to honor those who successfully complete the program. Sessions start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Applications may be obtained at the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce or the Woodford County Extension Office and may be requested at woodforddirector@gmail.com. The cost of the program is $200, which includes all transportation, meals, and activities at each session. Applications are due Aug. 9.
