Lathery


Willie "Bill" Matt Lathery, 79, husband of Vicki Summey Lathery, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C. Born Nov. 6, 1936, in Versailles, he was the son of the late James E. and Ruby Nichols Lathery. He was retired from Sara Lee Corp. with over 30 years of service, where he received 79 patents for processes, procedures and products. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and enjoyed woodworking and fishing. As a Vietnam veteran, he served for 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition to his wife of 36 years, he is survived by three sons, William M. Lathery (Leslie), Jonathan T. Huggins (Dawn), and Jeffrey K. Lathery (Candy); four grandchildren, Macy Knoble, Morgan Lathery, Carla Huggins and Jack Huggins; two sisters, Ruby Lee Everman and Ruth Mae Rhineheimer; and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, James H. Lathery, is deceased. A celebration and time of remembrance were held Saturday, July 23, at St. Mark United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Baird officiating.
