Wells comes back to Woodford schools
Garet Wells has had a change of heart so he will not continue his career in education as assistant superintendent of Franklin County Public Schools. Instead, Wells has returned to his post as director of staff and student services for Woodford County Public Schools. "I missed Woodford County," explained Wells, who lives in Frankfort with his wife, Marci, and their sons, Nicholas and Trevor. "I've been here for 14 years. My kids went to school here. And once I was truly separated from it, my heart was still here. And it didn't take long for me to realize that." Before becoming director of staff and student services in 2010, Garet Wells was principal at Safe Harbor Academy for five years and an assistant principal at Woodford County High School. He said, "The warm welcome that I've gotten upon my return . just goes to reaffirm that it was the right decision to request to come back." Woodford County schools Superintendent Scott Hawkins was pleased to welcome Wells, who "knows the job," back to the school district. "Garet's been in that job - he's the right person for that job," said Hawkins. He said, a "great demeanor" allows Wells to successfully handle a variety of responsibilities professionally - whether he's working to reduce barriers to help students improve their attendance or representing Woodford County schools when recruiting educators to come here. Moreover, Hawkins said, "Garet's decision (to come back to Woodford County schools) speaks volumes about our school district, about our community, about all of our employees, our kids. It just speaks about the complete range of what we have here in Woodford County."
