Police Reports Versailles police responded to five injury accidents, 36 non-injury accidents, made two arrests and issued two citations/summons. On July 21 at 6:35 a.m., a Chevrolet truck cab driven by Beatrice Smith, 54, veered off Church Street and struck a tree. Smith told police she was coming home from working overnight and didn't remember the accident. Police say she apparently fell asleep. Smith was taken to Baptist Hospital. On July 25 at 3:53 p.m., a Ford Ranger driven by Magdaleno C. Balleza, 52, of 343 Cherry Hill Court, was stopped at the stop sign and red flashing light on Frankfort Street at the intersection with the U.S. 60 Bypass. A Freightliner driven by Vera E. Fights, 55, of Lexington, was outbound in the right lane on the bypass approaching Frankfort Street. Balleza pulled out from the sign across the inbound lanes onto the bypass, merged into the right lane and into the Freightliner's path. Both vehicles overturned and a wheel from the Ranger struck a Chevy Silverado driven by Carlos F. Miller, 79, of 123 Shaw Avenue. Balleza was taken to UK Chandler Hospital and Fights was taken to Bluegrass Community Hospital. Police say inattention and failure to yield on the part of Balleza were factors in the wreck. On July 27 at 3:35 p.m., a Toyota Corolla driven by Gilberta A. Chapman, 71, of Lexington, was headed inbound on Troy Pike. Chapman told police she turned her gaze away from the road briefly, and her vehicle crossed the outbound lane and struck a tree on the other side of the road. She was treated at the scene by Woodford County EMS personnel. On July 28 at 4:34 p.m., a Kia Forte driven by Chelsea N. McLemore, 18, of Lawrenceburg, was outbound on the Blue Grass Parkway. Police say she was entering a right curve before a bridge and her vehicle dropped off the left side of the road. McLemore overcorrected, and the vehicle spun, crossed the inbound lanes of the parkway and struck a rock wall. She was taken to UK Chandler Hospital. Police say inattention, not being under proper control and oversteering were factors in the crash. On July 30 at 7:35 p.m., a Chevy Venture driven by Heather R. Young, 33, of Willisburg, was inbound on the parkway. Her vehicle left the road and was in the median for a quarter-mile before crossing both outbound lanes, striking a guard rail, bouncing off back into the right lane and striking a rock formation on the north side of the road. She told police she was unsure what happened. Police say she had no proof of insurance. On July 29, police made an arrest on Henton Court involving 2nd degree fleeing and evading and receiving stolen property, a John Deere riding mower worth $2,100. On July 29, a drill and tools worth a total of $580 were reported stolen on Douglas Avenue. On July 31, a Kentucky EPO was reported violated on Macey Avenue. On Aug. 1, harassing communications were reported in a government building on Court Street. On July 28, a summons/citation was issued on Park Street involving DUI and possession of cocaine and marijuana. On July 30, police made an arrest on South Main Street involving failure to wear a seatbelt, operating on a suspended/revoked operator's license and possession of marijuana. On July 26, a computer and handgun worth a total of $300 were reported stolen from a Chestnut Lane home. On July 29, $85 in fraudulent use of a credit card was reported at the Circle K on Yellow Jacket Drive. On July 30, a Kentucky EPO was reported violated on Berry Avenue. On July 29, a handgun worth $150 was reported stolen from a home on Tincher Drive. On July 29, a vehicle was reported leaving the scene of an accident on Lexington Road.
