Board approves permit for church on Macey Blvd.

The Versailles-Midway-Woodford County Board of Adjustment (BOA) unanimously approved a conditional-use permit on Monday that allows 99? For 1 Ministries to operate a church at 133 Macey Boulevard. The permit limits church services and activities to Fridays and Sundays, with occasional activities and special events. A conditional-use permit approved in 1973 allowed for the construction of a church on the property, which is zoned for residential uses. Jeffrey and Piper White, the current owners of the property, were granted a conditional-use permit in March 2013 to operate a private club for social and charitable events. That permit was terminated with the action taken by the BOA on Monday. The permit granted by the BOA on Monday will allow 99? For 1 Ministries to continue operating as a church at the Macey Boulevard location if the property, which it will lease, were ever sold by the current owners to this new ministry operating the church. Scott Sargent, pastor of 99? For 1 Ministries, told BOA members that he anticipates having a congregation of up to 130 members. Because the church is being started from the ground up, Sargent acknowledged that his ministry will need to look for a new location if and when they outgrow the Macey Boulevard site, which has 45 parking spaces.
