John Weldon Walker Jr., 56, of Versailles, husband of Jeannie Walker, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Marlene Walker of Versailles and the late John W. Walker Sr. He attended Johnson & Wales University and Transylvania University, and was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lexington. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Walker, Versailles; a niece, Emily Craycraft Starks; and a nephew, Robbie Craycraft. A sister, Dr. Catherine Walker Craycraft, is deceased. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 8, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at the funeral home by the Rev. Tony Hancock. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Preston Martin, Brandon Wilson, Jeff Goldey, Paul Cameron, Martin Fister, and Freeman Bailey. Donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
