Dake seeks council seat

Laura Dake has called Versailles home for 24 years and said she is excited to be running for a city council seat for the first time. Dake is the executive director of ITNBluegrass, a local nonprofit transportation service for people 60-plus. She is married to Bill, a family physician with HealthFirst Bluegrass, a community health center serving the needs of uninsured and underinsured people. They have three children, all of whom attended Woodford County schools. Dake has been an active member of Versailles Presbyterian Church for 20 years. In a statement, she said: "I am eager to work with the whole community on a shared vision for Versailles' future, one that balances the economic and housing needs of its citizens while preserving the town's unique characteristics and charm that attract many to this area. The four planks of my platform are: "1) Enhancing quality of life for all residents; "2) Insisting on transparency in local government; "3) Promoting growth that will meet the needs of the community; and "4) Seeking affordable transportation solutions." "To read my full platform, visit my website at LauraDakeForVersailles.com. You can contact me at lauradake4cc@gmail.com or (859) 351-0460. I welcome your input. And please vote for me - #2 on the ballot - on Nov. 8."
