XC team scores well at CKC and Double S Stampede

The Woodford County varsity cross country teams competed in two races in the last two weeks: the CKC in Somerset on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and the Double S Stampede in Georgetown on Sept. 24. Here are the results. Girls’ varsity CKC Jodie Smith had Woodford’s top performance in the CKC. She finished ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 22:49.36. Other Woodford finishers in the race were Jessica Smith (21st place with a time of 23:53.40); Regan Martin (23rd, 24:01.24); Bekah Hall (29th, 24:32.14); Turner Reynolds (39th, 26:14.98); Stanislava Spasova (40th, 26:24.58); Paige Davis (47th, 27:13.16); Kylie Claridge (53rd, 28:29.73); Isabella Steely (57th, 30:10.87); and Kristen Taylor (58th, 30:49.97). Boys’ varsity CKC Jonathon Hall had the top performance for Woodford in the CKC. He finished 34th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:27.88. Other Woodford finishers in the race were Peter McGowan (36th, 19:33.36); Mitchell Scott (44th, 20:04.26); Jalen Newton (45th, 20:06.56); James Hawkins (48th, 20:23.21); Justin Lehmkuhler (56th, 21:01.75); Abran Santos (61st, 21;22.24); Clay Thomas (66th, 21:29.47); Alex Sowder (72nd, 22:59.57); and Luke Caldwell (74th, 23:00.92). Girls’ varsity Double S Stampede Hall had the top finish for the girls’ team in the Double S Stampede when she ran the 5,000-meter run in 25:46.00 and was fifth. Two other Woodford runners finished in the top 10. Sissy Spasova finished eighth with a time of 26:42.50 and Reynolds finished ninth in 27:38.40. Boys’ varsity Double S Stampede McGowan had the top performance on the boys’ team in the Double S Stampede, as he finished fourth and completed the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:28.20. In addition, three other Woodford runners finished in the top 10. Scott finished sixth with a time of 19:45.30, Newton finished right on his heels in seventh in 19:48.20 and Jonathon Hall finished eighth in 19:50.40. Next up is the Titan Cross Country Classic at Shelbyville on Saturday, Oct. 8. Start time is 9 a.m.
