Gordon Robert Dunning, 74, of Versailles, husband of Rebecca Dawn Dunning, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at his home of cancer. Born in Corning, N.Y., he was the son of the late Donald and Marjorie Hartman Dunning. He was an EKU alumnus and retired from IBM and Lexmark, where he was a design engineer for over 40 years and developed several patented designs. An active member of the Versailles Baptist Church, he was also a longtime member of the Versailles Lions Club. He was an avid fisherman, artisan woodworker and draftsman, and an excellent craftsman who enjoyed building things for his wife and family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Robert Keith (Cheryl) Baker, Shreveport, La., Kevin Douglas Dunning, Columbus, Ohio, Tara Ashlay Dunning, Georgetown, Jon Cable (Deanna) Morgan, Versailles, Jason Nipp, Shreveport, La., and Joe (Rachael) Nipp, Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Courtney A. (Brad) Rardin, Kylie S. Morgan, Jon Cable Morgan II, Kennedy G. Morgan, all of Versailles, Alexandria B. Morgan, Lexington, Gabrielle A. Dunning, Georgetown, Madison K. Dunning, Denver, Colo., McKara K. Dunning, Valdosta, Ga., Jaymes Anthony Patton, San Francisco, Calif., Hanna E. Jackson, Wilmington, Ohio, and Alice Nipp, Houston, Texas; two sisters, Donna McGinnis and Linda Cheatham; two brothers, Norman "Butch" Dunning and Tony Dunning, and six great-grandchildren. A son, Zachary Kenton Morgan, two sisters, Marjorie "Peggy" Dean and Jackie Burke, and a brother, Darrell David Dunning, are deceased. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 13, at Versailles Baptist Church. A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 6 p.m. by the Rev. Michael Cabell and the Rev. John Brandon. Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Versailles Lions Club, P.O.
