Ben Sherwood Hancock, 57, of Lexington, formerly of Midway, husband of Gloria Merriman Hancock of Louisville, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at his home. Born in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Joseph Tilton Sr. and Fannie Jean Pruitt Hancock. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Adanne Hancock Bagby, Lexington; two nieces, Mary Bagby Rardin (Donnie), Lexington, and Ellen Rardin Bagby, Midway, and his caregiver, Wendell David Hoskins, Lexington. Two brothers, Joseph Tilton Hancock Jr. and his identical twin brother, Don Heywood Hancock, are deceased. A memorial service was conducted Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, followed by a reception of friends and family. Burial will be private. Memorials suggested to Catholic Action Center, P.O. Box 324, Lexington, KY 40588.
