Message from the Mayor

Don’t forget that Santa will be making one of his first stops of the holiday season right here in Midway. RJ Corman Railroad Group will be bringing him downtown by train at 11 a.m. this Saturday, Nov. 26. The elves will then help Santa to his Main Street workshop where the kids can visit and let him know what’s at the top of their wish list – and if they’ve been good this year. It’s no coincidence that this event takes place on “Small Business Saturday,” an answer to “Black Friday,” where Americans are encouraged to support their local businesses, who really make our economy go. I hope you’ll come out and support our Midway entrepreneurs, enjoy the magic of the season, and sip on some hot cocoa provided by the Midway Presbyterian Church. The night before, on Friday the 25th, we’ll be having our Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. We’ll carry on a new tradition we started last year by lighting up the downtown poles before the main event. Some classic Christmas caroling will follow, so please come and add your voice. From all of us at the City of Midway, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving, and loosen your belt ahead of time for added comfort.
